Description
For sale is my 2002 BMW E39 525i SE Auto in Slate Green, with just 48k miles, MOT until May 2026 and showing ULEZ Free.
For the last 2 years miles this big comfortable cruiser has taken me up and down the length of the country as a motorway cruiser without missing a beat, and returning mid 30’s to the gallon. The engine is lovely and smooth, with the proper 6 cylinder grunt and noise when pushed, or whispers along sitting with cruise control at motorway speeds. The gearbox goes up and down happily with no jolts or hard changes, and the kick down is nice and quick to react. Steering and brakes are nice and sharp, and the suspension nice and supple with no unwanted noises. Recently the parking sensors have become intermittent, which I am assuming is a faulty sensor needing replaced.
History wise there is everything from pre delivery inspection sheets, the old MOT's, invoices, tax discs and 4 keys, including 2 valet/ smaller ones. The service book is stamped up with services by either BMW main dealer or BMW specialist. Whilst owned by myself it’s had a major service at a BMW specialist 4k miles ago, which included a gearbox service, belts and pulleys changed and some fuel line sections replaced, totalling over £1000. It's also recently had a new Yuasa battery, rear drop link and a fresh MOT until May 2026. Current mileage is 48040, may increase slightly but it’s not in regular use anymore.
The bodywork is nice, clean and shiny, especially considering it's a 23 year old car. There’s the odd little mark or stone chip, but the only thing worth pointing out is on the rear passenger side, the ‘central trim belt’ bit on the rear bumper corner has a scuff. Underside is clean with nothing to mention whilst up in the air from its recent MOT. There is a few small little blebs (few mm’s) on the bottom of the front wings, and the very bottom of the rear driver side arch. All jacking point area's are all clean and straight. I’ve tried to picture the area’s as best possible, anything else specific just ask.
Interior wise it’s got lovely bright cream/ beige leather with wood trim. Seats, dashboard, door cards and carpets are all in nice clean condition with no rips or marks. All the usual toys you’d want from the era, cruise control, air con blowing nice and cold, CD multichanger, auto dimming mirror, steering wheel controls, and of course the all important cassette player. Also included is a set of ‘Solar Plexius’ window tint shades, which just push into place and can be fitted or removed easily (currently not fitted). The original first aid kit, glove box torch and tool kit are all still present.
Overall a really nice low mileage example of an E39, certainly doesn’t look or feel like a 23 year old car, and certainly not many left with this mileage. Viewings are from my home address near Cramlington, Northumberland. Any questions or if you’d like any pictures of specific bits just let me know. Payment by bank transfer there and then once you’ve seen the car and are happy with it. Private seller so no PX’s, no warranty etc. Sold as seen and approved by yourself on the day.
