Extensive Historic Series Racing history in the USA.
£64 995. 00
Please be aware that 6SFM300 is priced at a huge discount for a GT350 on the Shelby Register for a reason:
I purchased the car as a historic race car from the USA in 2016, noted some Shelby features and contacted the SAAC to enquire.
Multiple emails were exchanged with highly respected SAAC registrar, Mr Howard Pardee, including the supply of over two dozen specific requested photos of the car.
The SAAC was already aware of the car and suggested that 6SFM300’s use as a race car had resulted in the replacement of many of the original Shelby features, apparently not unusual in competition cars:
* engine bay inners and engine numbers that are non Shelby
* non B/ Warner manual 4 speed transmission
* non k code 289 engine
The engine is now rebuilt - fully balanced with performance aluminium headers, an uprated road/ race cam and new heavy duty clutch.
SAAC also noted that a previous owner of the car had confirmed the transmission to be Borg Warner and to have a fibreglass hood at that stage, which are no longer present.
The SAAC registrar, Mr Howard Pardee was satisfied of the car's heritage and 6SFM300 was entered in the official 2019 Shelby American Automobile Club (SAAC) Shelby Register.
This Ford Mustang GT350 was shipped from Shelby USA to Ford factory dealer Gilboy Ford Inc in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 17 November 1965 in it’s original colour of white with blue stripes (this was confirmed when the rear screen surround was repaired during my ownership).
6SFM300 campaigned in US HSR, SCCA and Rolex Endurance events for over a decade during the 1990’s, and according to the SAAC it is likely that the car was rebodied due to race preparation / damage incurred at this time.
The car was repainted in red with gold stripes during this period.
The purchaser of 6SFM300 will have the opportunity to liaise with the SAAC, update the Register as new owner and restore the car to Shelby original status, adding significant value to their investment.
All personal communication with the SAAC in 2016 will be provided to the new owner to assist in this regard.
A car that evokes intense interest, 6SFM300 has been housed in a climate controlled environment as part of my personal classic car collection, with some significant works undertaken during the period of ownership.
Good original condition. Mechanically sound.
Full roll cage. Document file.
UK registered with V5 in my name.
Includes some spares and items purchased for FIA registration ( as this was a consideration at one stage ). The Mustang is also road ready for UK use with the racing perspex screens removed and replaced with glass plus a custom carpet set.
This 66 Shelby Mustang Fastback looks incredible and would guarantee club/ collector interest and entry to classic car events including the Goodwood Revival, Silverstone Festival and others .... something different from the many competition notchbacks out there.
A rare and unique opportunity to own a piece of US automotive history at an absolute bargain price for a car on the official Shelby Register, that can be used on the road or prepared for the track.
