Description
My Scimitar has been looked after by 11 enthusiast owners. Its taxation class is Historic, it is reliably roadworthy.
The file that comes with the car shows comprehensive maintenance receipts and MoT certificates over the years at least until it was 40 years old. It is a sound, original and complete, if patinated , survivor that has been maintained rather than rebuilt. Recent work includes a replacement carb , with overhauled heating/ cooling system. I bought the car privately through Car& Classic nearly 3 years ago. In my opinion the earlier SE 5 is desirable for its pure shape, small size and light weight before the later types. This one cruises along very happily. It has lots of sensible upgrades including adjustable Spax coilovers , piped exhaust headers , and stainless system. In overdrive top at 60mph that V6 is virtually ticking over, yet it has the torquiness to pull like the proverbial train. The interior is a nice place to be;comfortable seats with the footwells giving great legroom, classic Smiths instruments , toggle switchgear and high quality rooflining. The standard 3 spoke steering wheel is lovely to hold, it has shaped recesses adjacent to the rim for your thumb to engage with. Nice.
The proper chassis is sound throughout.
Bodywork is straight with excellent panel gaps. Tasteful shade of orange that’s distintive without being garish . Some patina around the bonnet.
