Description

5. 3 LS swapped '74 C10 square body.

A well known truck in the northwest. Reliable, turn-key daily driver, I use this truck for work commutes in the summer with regular long distance weekend trips and have put over 30k miles on it while in my ownership. Stock engine, trans and wiring loom. The LS gives good mpg on the motorway and has plenty of power. Tube headers run into a custom cross-over exhaust which has a nice tone. Cold air induction pipe and filter. Front suspension has dropped spindles and C-notched rear end still on leaf springs. LSD on the axle. Front and rear heavy duty anti-roll bars gives much better handling characteristics. Front disk brakes and rear drums all with plenty of life in them and very effective. Electric fans on an aluminum radiator that was reconditioned and re-cored 2 years ago after a small leak. LED light conversion all round. Unusual sliding window on rear of the cab. Interior has custom steering wheel and column change auto. Fly-by-wire throttle pedal. Dakota digital dash gauges. Retrosound digital radio with Bluetooth hands-free. Digital rear view mirror. Bench seat with almost new green vinyl but kept covered. Carpeting in great condition with soundproofing beneath. 2 keys, alarm and central locking on drivers door. Road tax exempt and declared MOT exempt but regardless has had yearly servicing and regular oil and filter changes. It could do with new rear tyres and a curbed front wheel repair.
I have replaced some of the lower quarters with imported LMC Truck patch panels so some areas are still in grey primer and need finishing. Rear wheel arches still need doing. I intended to keep as much of the old paint as possible to show its age and patina. Paintwork is far from perfect but it suits the car. Chassis and the rest of the body is otherwise solid.
I have a few spares including new door/ window rubber seals from LMC and I have full sized panels ready for the rear arches that I will include only for the full asking price otherwise will be sold separately.
In my ownership for nearly 6 years, personal priorities are prompting a reluctant sale. Currently in dry storage, not at my house, so need plenty of notice for viewings. The LS conversion made this a no-brainer given the known reliability but also access to spares if needed. The C10 was made popular again by Roadkill Roadshow so I bought this from a mechanic friend as soon as I saw and heard it. Very practical for an American car, comfortable, reliable and cheap to run. Mild sound with casual driving and great sound when driving a bit harder. Comfortably seats 3 people and a good sized rear bed.
