Description
A beautifully preserved car that is admired where ever she goes with low mileage at, 38, 488 detailed history, and in excellent condition that really makes people stop and take notice. My 1983 Mercedes-Benz 280SL, the rarest of series production models and arguably the best model to have probably in its most sort after state. The R107 280SL is a great combination, the Bosch fuel injected Twin cam straight six (Beautifully detailed engine bay ready to enter any concourse de elegance show) and stunning body style, top down or hard and soft top up, this is now a true classic that can and must be enjoyed regularly.
This 1983-registered 280SL, driven for just 38, 488 miles from new. Not only well maintained but also equally well-documented and shown in a feature in the Mercedes Owners Magazine. The car comes with its original paperwork, Manuals, previous invoices, MoT certificates, old tax discs and service history. Having just been fully inspected, serviced and MOT'd (June 2025) with a clean bill of health.
The car had a full Experian check carried out and came back completely clean
It had its first service/ inspection at Bingleys in Chichester then the Mercedes Benz specialist at 6, 181 miles in September 1986 while the majority of its early maintenance appears to have been done in the Chichester area.
It has been MOT’d every year and the last MoT was in June 2025. The Mot history confirms the low mileage is correct and it also shows a complete history of good health This can be seen online at the . gov site.
The invoices show a high level of upkeep including replacing all five new tyres (Uniroyl). replacement of fuel pump and filters . Having covered just (10, 594 miles in the last 15 years) this R107's overall condition is reflective in that it is in stunning condition inside and out. The underside of the car is as clean as the rest of the car, (please see the photos) A very pretty car in cream. According to the supplied documents and MoT data, it has been sparingly used and has been dry stored in my Heated garage while I have owned it and have been told it was the same for the majority of its life. I have only ever driven it in the summer dry months and always being put away for the winter, It hasn’t seen the rain in many years.
the Ivory ( Cream) paint is in immaculate spot-free condition and there's no damage to the bodywork, the Beautiful designed Mercedes wheels are excellent and sets the car off. The interior is in just as good condition and doesn't give away its age,
The fresh-looking dashboard is complemented by good-looking seats, clean door cards, etc. The door scuff covers are also very clean, the dashboard and centre consul being Walnut wood finish are in superb condition. There is no sign of any rust at all and the original soft top is very clean . The hard top is in great shape matching the rest of the car. In addition the car still has its original full set of tools, , fire extinguisher and Blaupunkt Frieburg stereo (although upgraded by a more modern DAB unit with Bluetooth) it has a full-sized spare wheel with a new tyre and looks like it has never been used.
As said by many people the R107 is a timeless car, it has all the makings of a classic but without compromising on the ease of use. . The 280SL is rarer than other models, but it's not just rarity that sets this car apart, its the excellent exterior, detailed engine bay, prefect under side and very clean interior, plus very low genuine mileage, and service history. A fantastic looking car that drives beautifully.
