Description
Recently completed restoration by me this is a nice useable example of this now quite rare Honda twin. Original UK bike with a nice number. Known by various names - Baby Dream, Benly etc. Fully operational electric start!
I bought this bike as a retirement project - see photos for how it was when I got it. Now it's complete and running I need to move it on to finance the next one and release the workshop space.
The frame and painted parts are all powder coated in the correct Honda red.
I have rebuilt the bike using original parts wherever possible. decided to fit a new carburettor for reliability's sake. The header pipes and silencers are original with new baffles.
I fitted a new wiring harness and battery and a new coil. The bike features an original horn - quite rare. All electrics work - horn, indicators, lights and brake light.
The seat is original - reupholstered.
All the control cables are new.
The wheel rims are original but with new spokes, tyres and tubes. My hobby is restoring an interesting bike one at a time. I've always ridden Hondas since a teenager and this caught my eye as as stylish, retro model of the period which also boasted great features for its day - electric start, indicators. overhead cam. etc.
The bike starts on the button and is very rideable. The clutch is smooth and all gears change easily. The neutral light works too. I had contemplated keeping it for a year or two as a summer rider but I ride less and less and have a VFR750 for that. Although the bike is easy to ride you have to pay attention due to its vintage brakes and relative lack of power. I live in the the very busy west London area and it's difficult to get to nice quiet roads fro a ride-out. Also I need the money to finance the next project.
I have a couple of short videos of me riding the bike which I can send if requested.
