For Sale '49 Austin A40 DEVON PRO-STREET Special – Custom-Built Hot-Rod.
Step into a masterpiece of engineering and creativity with a custom-built hot-rod that redefines what it means to be a multiple trophy winning show-stopper. This is creation of a renowned Hot-rod builder who has been crafting cars for years. This stunning Austin is the result of a lifelong passion for both British cars and High-performance hot rods. The builder was Inspired to build a car that combines the cutting-edge spirit and raw performance engineering of the Drag car but with and Art-Deco aesthetic of 1940s and 1950s cars. With a vision as bold as this he has created something totally unique and that is one-of-a-kind.
Exterior and Bodywork-
The car began its transformation with a complete teardown, where the body and floorpan were separated, bare-metalled, and restored with absolute precision. The Austins original 1949 body was given a subtle 4-inch roof chop, and classic features like the wings were carefully fabricated. The body and door bottoms were extended, smoothed and meticulously detailed creating a sleek flowing design. The entire car was first dry-built, then disassembled for a custom paint job. Being finished in a Aprilla red with custom trim with the Austin motif in the door cards. Detailing like this makes this Austin a work of art from every angle. Completing the look are the gorgeous frenched rear lights
Body Steel body + glass fibre flip-front, de-seamed and moulded intake and cover scoop, aero catch locks. 4” roof chop, 2 door conversion where the b pillar has been relocated 8” back, the front doors lengthened 8”, rear door reduced 8” and seam welded) Boot lid internally hinged, re-fabricated front and rear firewalls. Re-fabricated inner and outer sills, floors, gearbox tunnel and rear wheel tubs / boot floor. Rear arches widened. Rear valance re-fabricated to incorporate frenched lights, no plate + exhaust exists. Fuel filler relocated and aero-fuel cap fitted.
Custom Engineering and Performance-

Under the flip front you'll find a rare and desirable Engine the limited number 1966 Hi-Po Engine Ford 289 CU in (4. 7) HiPo Block, Crank + Conrods +30TRW, Hightop forged Pistons + Chromoly rings, (approx. 12 to 1 comp ratio) Clenite bearings, Cloyes hex adjust tru roller timing kit, comp cams 292 extreme energy solid lifter cam kit, Comp-cams push rods, Melling std volume pump + sva pump drive, Sfi balancer. 1966 289 HiPo heads, ported, polished and gas flowed, Manley valves, comp cams roller rockers, guide plates and springs, ARP bolts throughout. M/ T Rocker covers, Cal custom finned alloy sump, March billet underdrive pulleys, Mallory billet distributor, 1 wire Alt, Accuspark 8mm HT leads, Procomp (MSD) Ignition and Coil, NGK2623 BPR6FS Spark plugs X8, Weiland tunnel ram + x2 450cfm Holley’s secondary's that are a matched pair, Mr gasket original street scoop, All linkages are rose jointed, a relocated Mocal remote oil filter, all fuel and oil lines are Aeroquip including fittings and braided hoses. Holley blue fuel pump + Pro-comp fuel filter, Holley regulator + summit fuel pressure gauge, 10-gallon Jaz racing fuel cell, Lokar cables, Custom built AH Fabrications Motorsport Products Aluminium 3 core radiator with Silicone coolant hoses. Exhaust - 1 ¾” Headers, 3” Teflon/ Glass taped, 2 ½” exhaust and balance pipe, Cherry bomb short front mufflers, Magna flow stainless rear silencers and 3” stainless tailpipe’s. This engine not only sounds incredible but also delivers power with precision.
Transmission is a fully-built Highly sought after Ford Toploader 4 speed with relocated shifter, shortened and rose-jointed linkages, Hayes Street/ Strip racing Clutch, Hydraulic clutch conversion with a Shortened Prop. The chassis has 3x2 box section rails, 2x2 outriggers and gearbox cross section, 1”5/ 8 tube front cross member. The 12-point roll cage has been welded to the chassis and outriggers including thru bulkhead connections plus door bars using 96 feet of 1”5/ 8 x 3/ 16” cds tubing. ¾” cds tubing is used on the seat frames and back mounts.. The Rear Axle is a Ford 8” narrowed to 36” and chromed, having being rebuilt including New 4. 11 to 1 Gears and LSD fitted, shortened shafts, Rear 4 Bar linked that are Aeroflex polybushed and rose jointed panhard with coil over shocks. Up Front there is axle Cortina IFS fully reconditioned + polybushed, 19018 springs + Spax adjustable shocks.
Brakes Front are Willwood racing Dynalite 4 pot callipers, solid grooved discs, Willwood fast road pads. Rear- Mercedes Callipers/ pads and solid rear discs. Goodridge braided hoses. Dual circuit twin Girling master cylinders, Willwood bias brake adjuster, TCI – solenoid line lock. and the brake and fuel lines are crafted from braided stainless-steel hoses, all fitted with black anodized or polished fittings for that extra touch of precision. The car rolls on 3-piece Cragar split rims, finished polished and paired with firestones F560 155 r15 82T tyres upfront 31 x 18. 5 x 15 MH RaceMaster tyres at the back giving it a mean stance
Interior Design-
Inside, the Austin is just as jaw-dropping as the exterior. The bucket seats and leather Austin Motif door panels were custom-made. Interior has a Black gel backed moulded carpet, Tuck and roll style door rear panels including Austin motif, Jazz Composite race seats, Jazz Seat leather covers with memory foam base and backrest, Williams racing 4 point harness, 24mm thick Roll cage padding. Accessories include a Painless 12 circuit wire-kit. Up on the dash the Autometer ultralight gauges Autometer shift light, Polished indicator unit are housed in billet brackets a nod to his love for classic racing details. Full Laminated front screen with All other fitted glass being 6mm toughened, Stainless bolts used throughout (where applicable). JEGS polished steering column, Escort steering rack + linkages, Quick release wheel hub, Mountney steering wheel
