Description

1978 Lincoln Continental MKV Diamond Jubilee edition

I have reluctantly decided to offer my MK V Diamond Jubilee for sale as I seek to downsize my collection of American cars. This is a lovely, low mileage example which I have improved in my ownership over the last few years.

Mileage is approximately 38K
460 cubic inch V8 (7. 5 litres)
MOT 25. 03. 26
Diamond Blue metallic paint with Wedgewood blue cloth upholstery.
Originally a Michigan car imported in 2018 by a friend of mine. It has been owned by a gentleman in between us, who only drove it about 150 miles.
Since in the UK, the car has benefitted from a respray, a restoration of the iconic turbine alloy wheels, a wax-oil undercoating of the underside, and a new set of American Classic 1. 75 inch whitewall tyres. These tyres have probably not done more than 2000 miles.

Over the last few years in my ownership, a full mechanical service has been carried out which included a significant overhaul of the braking system – four new callipers, all new hoses, new cables for the parking brake and new master cylinder - a reconditioned steering box and a professional valet inside and out.
We just fitted new rear shock absorbers.
The air con blows cold.
The radio works. (power antenna is extended and won’t retract, the motor is working so I suspect the cable is broken which is a common problem, replacement antennas are available from the US and sometimes as new old stock)
The eight track tape player works. (some tapes are included)
Power windows, power seats and power door locks work.
Cruise control works
Fuel gauge works (distance to empty display is powered up but the display itself is somewhat pixelated)
I have no less than three sets of keys!
I have a Marti report on file.
It even has the optional CB radio concealed in the centre console. It powers up, but there is no one to talk to!
Overall condition is excellent. It needs nothing for you to start enjoying it right away.
The car has won many trophies in this country and those that I have inherited will go with the car. Most recently it achieved Best 1970s 1st Place at Stars & Stripes, Tatton Park, Cheshire on 05. 07. 25.
The car is a joy to drive. It cruises beautifully and will run all day at 70 mph, covering distance in supreme comfort and luxury, just as was intended in 1978. Cruising on the motorway at 65/ 70 it will return about 18+mpg, which is not bad at all!

The car is located in Letchworth Garden City, Hertfordshire, SG6, 30 miles north of London, junction 9 of the A1(M).
Viewings are available by appointment. Call Dan on the details below.
I am a collector, not a dealer. Sorry, but I am not interested in a part exchange.
Payment is to be by bank transfer into my account and the car will be released upon receipt of cleared funds.
The registration DLM1S is not included, the car will be re-registered BVV201S (I have a nice set of black aluminium plates with this registration, or white and yellow plastic ones if you prefer).
Those are my initials on the doors. This was a thing that luxury American cars did in the late seventies. They are just vinyl and easily removed and replaced with yours.
I recommend that you come and view the car. You will not be disappointed. Values of these cars in the USA have increased dramatically over the last few years and with $/£ exchange rate going in the wrong direction for us Brits, you simply could not get one as nice as this from the States for this money.
