Description
Rare Phase 1 model.
Only covered 48, 000 from new.
This Peugeot 205 GTI 1. 6 is an involving 1980s hot hatch, that has become a modern classic.
Bought in 2020, the car had been of the road since 1993.
Since buying it, i have sympathetically restored the engine bay and running gear.
The engine has been out and the engine bay was resprayed and refitted on new bushes. The engine itself hasn't been rebuilt, but the ancillaries have been off, cleaned and painted or plated where possible and refitted with new gaskets where appropriate. The cambelt and water pump have been replaced. The injectors have been cleaned and the airflow meter has been rebuilt by ATC. It has then had new coolant and breather pipework by Baker BM and new fuel lines front to back.
It has just had a refurbished BE1 gearbox fitted from 3d Motorsport and had a new clutch.
The front brake calipers discs and pads are new and the rear wheel cylinders have been replaced as have all the brake lines.
Both front wheel bearings have been replaced and the suspension struts repainted and plated.
The wishbones have been rebuilt with new Heritage bushes and bolts.
The wheels have been refurbed and have new tyres fitted.
The bodywork is good condition for its age, but its not concours spec, there are a couple of minor rust blemishes, but nothing that seems any more than surface marks.
I have kept 90% of the old parts removed for authenticity including old tyres and it can all come with the car if wanted.
I purchased the car from a well established rally prep company who got the car in a deal from a collector with an old 205 rally prepped car they wanted. The owner had a collection that he was slimming down. I have included some pics from 2020 when i purchased.
I never intended to sell the car and i love driving it, but unfortunately the storage facility i have been using is closing and i can't justify alternative costs.
