I have owned this beautiful DT400 since it was imported from California in 2020. I’ve ridden it less than 200 miles.
5400 miles. Believed genuine, considering the condition.
Matching engine/ frame numbers
The yellow petrol and oil tanks, frame and engine cases are all in original paint.
I have spent a lot of money on it. There are too many new parts to fully detail here, but they include:—
‘Rex Speedshop’ electronic ignition and 12v conversion (the lights are nice and bright).
Chain & sprockets
Lucas headlamp (for driving on the left) and replaceable 12v H4 bulb
Service: Air filter/ plug/ oils etc
12v lithium battery + charger
Seat cover (I still have the original which has just a couple of small cuts)
Front & rear brake pads
Steering bearings
Rear swing arm bearings
4 x indicators (complete)
Engine gaskets and crank seals
Cables (brake, throttle etc)
Carburettor jets (genuine mikuni)
Rear brake light switch.
‘Trail-Tech’ engine temperature gauge
Numerous other small parts, like handlebar grips etc etc etc… I have a large folder of receipts/ info.
The fuel tank has a small scratch in it, but it’s confined to the white sticker area.
I have had the mudguards, rear lamp/ registration plate holder and headlamp bowl/ ears resprayed in the period correct silver.
I have had 8 or 9 black parts which attach to the frame powder coated, including the bash-plate, side stand and chain guard etc.
The frame itself is still in its original paint (it has age-related marks)
Inside the tank is very clean - see photo.
I’ve just had it rebored by a 2-stroke specialist (PJME) and have fitted NOS Yamaha piston & rings (at great expense!).
I have bought some additional carburettor jets (bigger and smaller) for trying out after the bike has been run in. They are in the back of the garage somewhere - I will be hunting them out in the next day or so….
Lots of tread on the knobbly tyres. Great chrome on forks/ wheels etc. Seat base is free of rust (still in original paint).
Decompression valve works fine.
The bike was in use in California in 2019 - see photo of USA plate.
A survivor, low mileage 2-stroke classic with LOTS of new parts fitted
Please let me know if you would like any more info or photos (I took a video but couldn’t seem to load it on here?) etc. or would like to view.
No tax required and no MOT required.
