I have owned this 1958 Golden Flash A10 for almost 20 years. I am the second owner. The gentleman that I bought the bike from, purchased it new from W. H. Houghton & Co. on the 1st August 1958.
Although I have restored the bike, it remains very authentic. The previous owner commented "that it looked just as it did the day he first saw it in the showroom"
The first owner was fastidious about regular oil changes. The condition of the engine was first class (and still is) However, where necessary, bearings oil seals etc were replaced. All work done is set out in the restoration file. The cylinder head was professionally restored at The Cylinder Head Shop. Top quality valves, guides & springs were fitted. together with a conversion to unleaded fuel.
Powder Coating was carried out by Triple S, an unbelievably good job which has stood the test of time. Re-chroming was carried out wherever necessary and the wet painting professionally, by Merlin Coachworks.
Magneto and dynamo professionally overhauled. The original carburettor was restored to as new by Martyn Bratby.
The bike comes with the old buff log book, the original BSA Instruction Manual and the key for the steering lock! ( I wonder how many of those are still with the bike after 67 years)
Engine number and frame number are as they were when the bike left the factory, and it retains its original registration number. There is a photographic record of the restoration carried out.
This is a reliable and capable machine which runs well, and is enjoyable to ride, be it on a solo ride out or on VMCC runs.
