Description
A solid example of the iconic Defender TD5. Registered in 2004 and showing just 93, 000 miles, this pickup has plenty of life left and is ready for work or weekend adventures.
The car drives well and has no mechanical faults or issues. I recently had the ECU rebuilt by ECU Testing in Derby (with a lifetime warranty), and also cleaned the ECU line for any oil creep, as well as replacing the injector harness with a sealed unit from Pace Automative and a genuine Land Rover rocker cover gasket.
I have replaced the front radius arm bushes, and radius arm to chassis bushes, renewed with SS bolts from YRM, along with brand new SS fixings for the driver's side and passenger side floor plates, gearbox tunnel and seat box (also new Dynamat throughout).
Windscreen to bulkhead seal and cab to body seals replaced as new along with SS window hinges, all from YRM, and new vent seals with SS pins.
Doors have been stripped down, rust treated and put back together with new fir tree clips, genuine exterior waist seals and genuine door seals. The electric window units operate without any issues. I also replaced the barrel locks with new (2 keys).
Both rear shock absorbers have been replaced, along with a new steering damper.
The body is in good condition overall — a few age-related marks and imperfections as expected. Please refer to the pictures for sections of the paint where the lacquer has failed. The price reflects the work needed to put this right.
Interior is clean and functional, and fitted with Lucari sports seats, a matching Exmoor Trim cubby and the original Land Rover Hardura matting. It also has the original security etched glass to match the number plate, as it was off the line.
A well maintained honest Defender that turns heads and gets the job done. Ideal for Land Rover enthusiasts, farm use, or as a base for further customisation.
I bought it 2 years ago and have used it predominantly for driving to the beach with a surfboard in the back, and it's also done a couple of longer journeys up the motorway.
I've put around 10, 000 miles on it in the last 2 years.
The full service history was lost with the second to last owner, but I have receipts to certify full service and fluid changes carried out by a local garage at:
61, 233 miles
69, 347 miles
74, 147 miles
81, 026 miles
MOT until December 2025 with no advisories (due another service at this point).
Condition notes:
- Paint lacquer failing in some places (pictured)
- Dinged the rear cross member, but it's been treated and painted and showing no signs of corrosion (pictured)
1 full size spare wheel which has never been used.
I'm based in Cornwall, but can arrange to meet a buyer at Bodmin train station (which is easily accessible). 5 former keepers as per the V5C document. I purchased it from a guy in a nearby village who used it to tow his caravan and carry his windfoil to the beach.
