Description
2002 Electric Citroen Berlingo van. Very low mileage, showing 2500 , but sure if that can really be true but I bet it is under 15K. Underneath in excellent condition, no rust issues or previous repairs.
Original factory model called the Electrique. Very nice and smooth to drive. In fact smoother and quieter than a modern EV. I last drove this on the road in 2023. The range was poor, it got parked up pending me going through the batteries and sorting them out but I never got around to it. You will need to go through the batteries and change the weakest ones. Or upgrade to modern battery system. I don't think it will charge up at the moment without tinkering with the batteries as they will all be flat (which doesn't actually harm this type of battery apparently)
Petrol Webasto cabin heater (original)
Payload is 500kgs and it has the optional side loading door.
16kWh NiCd batteries. 162 volt system. The largest battery box is only 62 Volts so relatively safe to do work on.
Regenerative braking.
Brilliant little vans and everyone is surprised that they even exist. These are exempt from compulsory MOT testing.
Very low miles, was parked up for years, possibly indoors but I don't know that for sure. Interior is very good. It is ULEZ compliant. As with a regular Berlingo the suspension and seats are excellent. It has an automatic style gear shifter with a Park position. The range of this van is unaffected by cold weather due to the battery chemistry and it having a cabin heater that does not drain the battery. A Future classic? Road tax is same as the diesel version. Well worth saving as they are rare and it is very low mileage.
