Description

Restored smart & sound 1968 Morris Minor 1000 , 1098cc, Convertible its an original factory built convertible with the MATS inscribed VIN/ Chasis plate, not to be confused with one of the many after market saloons that had there roofs chopped off back in the 90s. ,
Only 6 owners in 58 years
Last owner was a lady who owned it for 27 years
Blue in colour with a smoke blue interior,

The bodywork has all metal panels & overall its a very smart solid car, the blue bodywork is bright & has a good shine ,
The underside of the car is also in very good condition, no suspiciously large amounts of underseal , just a light coating of under body protective sealant , when i had the interior out to fit the new carpets i had the opportunaty to have a good look at the floor pan, which is very sound , with excellent inner cills,
.
The engine bay is in very good tidy order & the mechanics of the car have been good for me , being the 1098cc engine version has the benefit of being comfortable at keeping up with modern motoring , the engine is reliable & a willing starter , new points , rotor arm , brake light sender & condenser fitted, the engine was rebuilt 12, 000 miles ago , at this time the work was done to convert it to unleaded fuel
The gearbox ( 4 forward gears , 1 reverse ) is fine when gear changing , and doesnt jump out of any gears, the clutch also works as it should , with no slipping , & is not high on the engaging point . there is no whining from the back axle
The original drum brakes work as they should , but you have to be mindful that you are driving a 58 year old car, with less advanced technology

The interior is in very good condition , the seats and door cards are very smart , ditto the hood is in great condition with no leaks, the frame is also in good order & the heater works fine. doors lock up on the key
She is not a trailer queen, & does have the odd small blemish here and there, but no dents, she is really solid in the wings/ doors and boot lid, in fact she solid in all the usual Morris minor trouble areas.
Its a very smart , good usable example that can and has held its own at classic car get togethers , and got many admiring comments .
I bought the car from a couple i know , who bought the car in 1998, and used it for fun times , the car had been garaged throughout there ownership, in 2008/ 9 they set about having extensive restoration carried out , I have a big wadge of bills/ invoices for new panels & bodywork restoration, when the new structural and bodywork panels had been welded in , the car was given a full interior/ exterior respray , as well as keeping up with the mechanical side of things , which can be seen in the history file , it was at this time that the engine was rebuilt , which is included in the written history
With advancing years , the car was only being used for high days and holidays and a drive round the village once a month , it was at this point that i heard of there intensions to sell her , which was a situation i didnt want to let pass me by, as i had never owned a convertible , and have always wanted to

So to sum up , i have enjoyed owning this car, and will be sorry to see her go but i am looking for a traveller, ( which is what i was looking for when this car crossed my path ) , & dont have the space ( or funds !! ) for both.
From looking at the market place for original factory convertibles & the condition of this one i think i have keenly priced her , i think i have found the traveller i would like to buy, so time for someone else to enjoy her .

I have the V5 , which is registered in my name

The above is my opinion of the car , but im no expert , so i would strongly recommend coming and having a look , to make up your own mind.

She is a 58 years old car , so to cover myself she is sold with no guarantees implied or given,

Anyhow , get in contact if interested, I cannot always take calls on my mobile , so text me a message & i will get back to you, as opposed to leaving a message as my mobile message service is very unreliable. . Good fun to own, zero road tax cost , £100 a year car insurance. Great car if you like being smiled at , waved at , and let out into traffic !!. Used regularly, driving well, Used weekly & running well, remember what it was like to enjoy going out for a drive !
