Imported from the dry, sun-soaked roads of South Africa, this 1983 Ford Escort XR3 has survived in a condition most UK cars could only dream of. Finished in rare factory Maroon Red – a non-UK colour that stands out instantly at any show – it’s a genuine, rust-free survivor with the right details intact.
This is one of the first XR3s to feature the 5-speed gearbox mated to the lively 1. 6 CVH engine. Being a non-sunroof model, the shell is that little bit stronger and cleaner – and if you know your Fords, you’ll know how rare that is today.
Originality & Period Details
From the black-and-red striped interior to the rubber boot spoiler and body-coloured bumpers, it’s packed with 80’s charm. The refurbished cloverleaf alloys set it off perfectly – and there’s even a spare set included. The factory Hella grille with spotlights and early 2-bolt strut top mounts are still here, reminding you this is a true early XR3.
