This car started out as a small bumper 1. 8 16v gti
It was bought when only a few year old by autocavan and turned into a development car for their range of prospective parts
The engine, a 2. 0 16v 9a k-jet which has now covered over 100k miles since being built and fitted, is still extremely responsive and an absolute handful in this lightweight car, below is a list of all modifications from standard
• Autocavan modified head with 30mm(oversize) nimonic exhaust valves
• Autocavan 260degree camshafts
• fly wheel lightened by 4lbs, crank assembly fully balanced
•Racetech reusable arp studs/ nuts on the big ends and head
•2” powertorque “autocavan” exhaust system
• blue silicone hoses
•alloy rad with electric slimline fan
•Baffled sump
• larger intake with standard k-jet system
•mk1 golf gti 5 speed box (2nd gear syncro is dodgy)

•Ap Lockheed 4 pot big brake kit on the front(freshly rebuilt and painted)
• height and dampening adjustable koni Coilovers with solid adjustable top mounts
•poly windows all round except windscreen
•omp full weld/ bolt in roll cage with door bars and welded in rear strut brace
•full engine bay fire extinguisher system plumbed to a switch on the dash
•emergency battery disconnect switches both internally and externally plumbed
• team dynamics alloys with good tyres
• Sparco FIA bucket seats currently with 3 point Sparco harnesses on OMP seat mounts custom alloy side mount brackets
• sparco deep steering wheel
• interior fully stripped, lightened door cards, votex centre console with oil pressure, voltage and oil temp vdo gauges
• welded closed sunroof
The outside of the car is tornado red, and in surprisingly good condition for age showing no rust at all, has had a full respray sometime in its life that is noticeable in parts but very presentable
Overall the car is a very usable classic that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and give many modern cars a run for there money.
