Description

I have had this advert running for a while, and notice that there are 13 potential buyers watching the bike. For the first to make a realistic offer, I will consider it. Happy viewing!!!

I have my 1988 Rothmans Honda VF1000 RG, when first arriving on the street was a force to be reckoned with, Another direct descendant of Honda's race winning V4 formula, the VF1000R completely justifies it's Super Sports label.
The liquid-cooled 998cc 16 valve engine develops a competition busting 122 BHP at 10000 rpm together with a hefty 9. 4kg/ m of torque at 8000 rpm. Along with the VFR750F, the engine features gear driven double overhead camshafts for absolute valve train accuracy while reducung power loss through friction.
As you would expect from such an advanced motorcycle for it's year, the VF1000R had many other technology features. Up Front, the adjustable air-assist forks are fitted with TRAC - Honda's Torque Reactive Anti-Dive Control system. The rear suspension is Honda's race developed Pro-Link system with 3-way adjustable rebound damping.
To ensure that the VF1000R had stopping power aplenty, there are twin floating discs on the front with dual-piston calipers and sintered metal pads, while at the rear there's a ventilated disc and floating caliper again fitted with sintered metal pads.
To help put all that power down on the road, the VF1000R has a close ratio 5 speed gearbox and a hydraulic actuated clutch.
Completing the VF1000R's high specification are NS type ComStars, comprehensive instrumentation, a full aerodynamic fairing and a pair of halogen headlamps.
All this specification was way ahead of it's time in 1984 to 1988 when the VF1000R was produced, and was the first production motorcycle to be able to reach speeds of over 150MPH straight off the showroom floor. The VF1000R is a classic Honda, built to Honda's everlasting standards. It is a motorcycle that will be enjoyed by the correct enthusiast who wants to own a motorcycle that can only gain in value.
It is deceptively fast for a motorcycle of it's age and handles absolutely fantastically, making it a very exciting bike to ride, holding it's own with modern Superbikes.
I owned an original 1984 VF1000R in 1985, and after many years of enjoyment sadly sold it to purchase my first property. However, I vowed and declared I would one day own one again. I bought this later model in the Rothmans Racing livery in 2021, and unfortunately have only managed about 200 miles per year on it since then. I quickly found out I am no longer in my 20's, and don't have the courage any longer to do the bike justice. Let alone the fact the body doesn't bend like it used to. It needs to be owned by an enthusiast who can preserve the bike in the fantastic condition it's in, and ride it to be enjoyed.
The bike was imported from Switzerland, hence the speedometer reading in Km's, and was registered in the UK in 2021. Overall it's in fantastic condition, with a few signs of 38 years of ageing. It has recently been MOT'd, and the tyres are barely worn, having been fitted with new Metzler's, with retro tread pattern. There are 2 keys with the bike, the original Honda tool set the V5C document and all MOT certificates.
This is a must buy for the right person, looking for a truly spectacular classic.
