Description

Moto Guzzi V7 Ambassador 1970 750cc 4-speed. Comes with a nice pair of desirable Wixom panniers, original handlebar fairing with screen, and a dual seat (photos showing these fitted are from 2022). Ex-USA, imported into UK and restored some years ago. Matching engine & frame numbers. I’ve owned it for the last three years and used it regularly far and wide over 3-4000 miles. It’s good to go and has been totally reliable for me, requiring only a thorough service and going over each winter. I replaced the starter with a top quality one when I first bought the bike but since then it’s given me no problems beyond tlc and maintenance. The frame etc seems to have been powder coated, the bodywork has been done satin black and although tidy with no rust or pimples and very smart it’s never going to be as nice as a professional job to original spec. Tool boxes lock fine, one side panel has a small dent visible in the pics and one broken locating tang but I have it. Engine reputedly had Gilardoni barrels and pistons fitted when the bike was restored and although there’s no paperwork to back this up, I bought the bike from a chum who was told so by the lady who restored the bike so there’s no reason to doubt this, and they do look very fresh and clean. The motor runs great, strong and clean and smoke free. No damage, fins all good etc. There’s a small oil weep from the front dynamo belt cover, likely to be the front shaft seal. Gearbox is fine, clunky as usual, top gear whines a little but it’s not bad at all and hasn’t deteriorated in the time I’ve used the bike. Clutch is fine and final drive seems ok, no leaks. It’s pretty oil tight except for the small leak at the front as previously noted. Wheels are all original including the proper Borrani rims. Chrome work is all good, exhausts are sound with no dings or rust. It has a quality motobatt battery, period bar-end Hella indicators, and a modern Ducati LH switch for simplicity and reliability. Electrics are all good, it charges fine and the idiot lights work. MPH speedo works fine, In fact everything works as it should, there’s nothing bad to say about it, no chewed bolts or any sign of ham fisted spannering. It’s a great bike, covers distance effortlessly and in comfort, and I’m loathe to sell it but I have an old Laverda waiting to be done so the Guzzi will be sacrificed to finance it. Comes with a few bits and bobs, manuals etc, Priced to sell at £6500, happy to chat any time. Bike is in Montrose, Scotland.
