Description
Royal Enfield 350 Trials Bullet 1951
I've owned this bike for over fifty years. Its a genuine trials model, I have a document from the Royal Enfield owners club confirming it left the factory as trials model supplied to a dealer in Hull. The registration number is a Hull number and has been valued at £750.
That said the bike has been modified over the years the frame is no longer the 1951 type but the later post 56 all welded type (i. e. not brazed lugs) as used by the later works rep's. The forks are BSA also used on some of the early works rep's. See Don Morley's Book Classic British Trials Bikes for pictures of works riders using Bullets fitted with BSA forks. I'm not saying this is a works bike, just that it is a period modification. The top yoke is Enfield with the speedo mount cut away (again a period mod') the bottom yoke is home made in aluminium, No speedo is fitted though a drive is fitted to the rear wheel. I fitted a battery tray and lamps front and rear for road/ trail riding, though no charging system is fitted, magneto only, lighting is battery discharge (i. e. total loss) for emergencies, like getting caught out by fog or failing light. The gearbox is the trials type with the gear pedal mounted high up, where road models have the pedal low down on the same axis as the kickstart. I've never had the gearbox apart so don't know what ratios are fitted. Engine sprocket is 20 tooth and rear is 38 tooth, standard for road use. Rear brake drums with bolt on sprockets are available from Hitchcocks if lower gearing is required. The brakes are 6" half width hub type. The wheels have been rebuilt with alloy rims, The front has a brand new rim, spokes, tyre and tube, The petrol tank is the works rep' type slimmer than the road type. The tank is sealed with ethanol resistant sealer.
Great bike for green lane riding or modification for pre 65 trials.
I'm selling now because I no longer ride off road due to my age and I don't bounce as well should I have a spill. So it would be a shame to have the bike standing unused.
I have the original steel yokes (included in sale) which have been cut and welded to provide less trail There may be one or two other bits also.

JohnI bought this bike over fifty years ago from a farmer in Driffield.
Its a nice soft motor for off road riding and can be used on the road with care and patience.
These machines are have an excellent spares back up provided by Hitchcocks Motorcycles.
