Description
996. 1 GT3 club sport.
One of just 28 UK cars (C16) make this among the rarest of contemporary Porsches. The genesis of an undeniable icon of motorsport; the rawest and in its most purest form.
The rare club sport package consisted of a number of differences such as single mass flywheel- giving a more responsive engine and the distinctive mechanical noise on idle. The full nomex clad recaro race seats with schroth harnesses and of course a full integrated roll cage from standard. The Werner fire extinguisher and manual mirror adjusters with no side airbags on the door panels. Interior and exterior battery cut off switches; this car was built for competition.
The Mk1 GT3 was the last of the hand built cars assembled in the Weissach motorsport factory being the basis for homologation of the GT race series (including le mans) as well as the Carrera Cup Series
The spiritual successor the 73 Carrera RS, the Mk1 GT3 Club Sport is seen by Porsche as being as significant as the 73 Carrera RS
