Description

996. 1 GT3 club sport.

One of just 28 UK cars (C16) make this among the rarest of contemporary Porsches. The genesis of an undeniable icon of motorsport; the rawest and in its most purest form.

The rare club sport package consisted of a number of differences such as single mass flywheel- giving a more responsive engine and the distinctive mechanical noise on idle. The full nomex clad recaro race seats with schroth harnesses and of course a full integrated roll cage from standard. The Werner fire extinguisher and manual mirror adjusters with no side airbags on the door panels. Interior and exterior battery cut off switches; this car was built for competition.

The Mk1 GT3 was the last of the hand built cars assembled in the Weissach motorsport factory being the basis for homologation of the GT race series (including le mans) as well as the Carrera Cup Series

The spiritual successor the 73 Carrera RS, the Mk1 GT3 Club Sport is seen by Porsche as being as significant as the 73 Carrera RS

This particular car is a damage and accident free, un-molested example. The car wears its correct split BBS wheels with correct ‘as new’ pilot sport 2 tyres and is in fantastic condition throughout.

The car is corrosion free and has not been subjected to the winter use most have and as such the undercarriage is not caked in under seal or anything more sinister.

Recent new original Bilstein coil-over dampers and springs along with suspension arms and bushes renewed less than 1500 miles ago along with a set-up. The car handle’s tremendously and drives very tight.

The brakes are updated at the front to the 6 pot calipers with larger discs.

The engine is the real marvel within the GT3, the dry-sumped Mezger flat 6 has a character all of its own, its gruff and mechanical with 360 Stuttgart ponys- the last of the cable throttle, the first iteration of the motorsport engine developed from the GT1. Legendary motor!

The gearbox is connected to the engine via the single mass flywheel and is a 6 speed ‘box again developed from the 993 GT2.

The car was recently serviced with new fluids including gear oil and performs without fault

The car has an impressive history file, retaining its original service book and wallet with books. Stamped up to date with services every year documented. A binder of receipts accompany the car along with original spare keys.

The car was featured in period in EVO magazine, where it was put up against the best 911’s for a feature.
