Description
Renault 16 TX 5-speed from the latest series. Original from Portugal and excellently maintained. After many dry years, the TX was imported to the Netherlands in 2019 by a Renault enthusiast. You'll remember this car from the past; the R16 was a successful French mid-size car with many innovative details. And in the beautiful TX version, it also has a fantastic appearance. A big difference from the standard 16: dual headlights, green-tinted glass, sporty rims, a rear wiper, and the wafer-thin stainless steel rear spoiler.
The exterior is neat and has been resprayed in the past in the beautiful original color "Santonge metal verni," which has been done well. A slight color difference is visible due to the Portuguese sun, but only a nitpicker would notice. The doors close perfectly, and all seams are correct. All weak spots were carefully addressed in the Netherlands. Inner fenders were installed to protect the rear, and part of the engine compartment was expertly resprayed. The floors and engine compartment look very good. The rear doors have a few blemishes. It's an honest TX, and where else do you see those?
The interior is in excellent condition. The fabric upholstery was replaced in the past, and the seats were reupholstered. The dashboard is original, the beautiful Jaeger instruments have reconditioned orange dials, and everything works as it should. Even the power windows and central locking work perfectly. The "sporty" steering wheel is also beautiful; it has a real 70s vibe.
This 16 TX is in excellent technical condition, and you'll notice that while driving it. The last owner had everything that needed to be done by an R16 specialist. The gearbox has been overhauled, including a new clutch. It shifts perfectly, although there's a slight squeak in 5th gear, but that's just how the car is getting older. It also has a new water pump, radiator and hoses, brake force distribution, ignition switch, combination light switch, starter motor, and temperature sensor. New tires all around, a 1-2-3 ignition, and the valves were recently adjusted, along with a new engine and transmission oil change. The alternator with voltage regulator was also recently replaced, as was the brake fluid.
