Sadly I am having to sell my mother’s lovely Topaz, 2. 5L Premium V6 SE Manual X-Type, as since my mother has surrendered her licence, she is not being used and is special enough to deserve a good home.
I am driving her once a week, to keep her and the battery in good trim.
She has had two owners; my mother and an elderly chap in Warwickshire, who was given the car as a birthday present by his late wife. He cherished the car. When I purchased her in 2023, she had about 21, 000 miles on the clock, had had 21 services (all documented), had been garaged all her life and was pristine.
Since then she has had full services every year, only been run on Shell V Power, and after some age-related issues with brakes and suspension, had been sorted (all documented) and some improvements made (new spark plugs and better headlight bulbs) she is once again immaculate, mechanically perfect and an even better car than she was in 2023. At a cost of around £6, 000, all MOT advisories have been addressed and sorted and no further expenditure should be required until her next service and MOT in April 2026.
I suspect there isn’t a better example anywhere. I’ve driven quite a few of these X-Types and have been surprised by how solid, planted and smooth she feels. Perhaps the factory had a good day, as she was put together, I don’t know, but she is, by some distance, the best X-Type I’ve driven.
Put simply, she is not a cheap X-Type, but is a lot of car for the money. She is immaculate, looks stunning, has always been garaged, has been serviced every year throughout her life, feels like a rock-solid well put-together car and is mechanically sound.
