- Original black leather interiorsIn 1982 mechanical fuel injection and turbocharging through a KKK turbocharger were introduced, bringing the power output to 220 hp, and the claimed top speed to 242 km/ h by the manufacturer.
The 208 Turbo was unveiled at the Turin Motor Show. Initially this motorisation was available only for the GTB, in 1983 it was made available for the GTS as well.
In 1986 minor styling changes were made. In parallel with the launch of the Ferrari 328, the engine, thanks to adopting a Japanese IHI turbocharger (service pressure 1. 05 bar), BEHR intercooler and Marelli Med electronic control unit, now had 254 hp at 6, 500 rpm, and the power was more manageable thanks to the strong low-end torque.
The 208 Turbo was the first road Ferrari to have turbocharging. In total, 437 examples of the 208 GTB Turbo and 250 examples of the 208 GTS Turbo were produced.
