Description
this is a HRD first registered in 1949 as a VINCENT HRD, i purchased it in 1965 and have owned it ever since, used every year for long runs and touring both UK and france germany .
sensible mods to make it a better ride, modified brakes, dave hills main stand amal mk 2 carbs, other wise standard. engine completely rebuilt back in the 70s by maughan &co, it has an original vincent clutch that works perfectly, twin pull throttle which is a lot better than the junction box type, spax type shock absorbers, a definite improvement than the vincent type, still on 6 volt system with LED bulbs used for day time riding, oil tap fitted to save sumping when stood for a long time, this is a type that cuts out the magneto so it will not start without switch in ON position, the LUMP sticking out of the rear of the dual seat is where i carry my ABUS wheel lock!. fitted with original dunlop wheels, and 300x20 front speedmaster and rear with avon roadrider tyres
when i purchased it in the 60s, the previous owner replaced the front forks with a set from a comet, so the frame numbers do not match, but that did not stop it being a superb bike to own and ride!!. the reason for sale is as i am just the custodian of this machine, i wish it to go to a new owner to ride and enjoy as i am now to old to handle it and ride it, i find it is to heavy for me now, so whilst i am still in love with it, someone new can have pleasure with it!!according to the registration number it was sold by KINGS of OXFORD, it did at one time get sold by CONWAY MOTORS in the late 1950s
