For Sale: Rare Subaru Impreza Type R STI Version 3
Up for sale is a very rare Subaru Impreza Type R STI Version 3 — one of the most desirable classics from Subaru’s golden WRC era. Often regarded as the closest thing to the legendary 22B, this model features the same DCCD gearbox and iconic 2-door body, making it a true driver’s car and collector’s dream.
This particular example is in outstanding condition, clearly cherished throughout its life. Originally imported from Japan in 2008, it has been dry-stored ever since, leaving the underside completely rust-free. It has spent most of its time as part of a private collection in the UK and has covered only 10, 000 miles since import. It has only covered a total of 56, 000 miles making it a very low mileage example.
Mechanically, the car remains largely original, with just a few tasteful upgrades including a Blitz stainless steel cat-back exhaust and a Blitz blow-off valve. It also benefits from a recent suspension refresh featuring Pedders shocks and springs, providing a perfect balance of comfort and performance.
Externally, the car sports a P1 front bumper, giving it a slightly more aggressive stance, and an aftermarket rear spoiler. The paintwork presents beautifully, with only minor age-related marks. There is a small crease on the rear spoiler and a few stone chips on the front bumper, as shown in the photos — nothing unexpected for a car of this age.
Inside, the interior is exceptional, featuring a Momo Alcantara steering wheel and clean, well-preserved trim throughout. Everything feels tight and solid with no squeaks or rattles. Overall, this is an outstanding example of a 1990s Japanese performance icon that is becoming increasingly sought after. With values continuing to rise, this Type R STI is not only a joy to own but also a smart long-term investment.
