Description

Very early Motobecane Mobylette from 1954. These iconic autocycles provided cheap and accessible transport for ordinary French people in the immediate aftermath of the war, and went on to sell in huge numbers for the next four decades, finally finishing production in 1997.

This particular example has been in my care since April 2023. When I bought it, it was an unreliable starter when warm, but I have overhauled the magneto, replacing the condenser, and I have found it completely reliable ever since.

It is very much in oily rag condition, but I have resisted the temptation to restore it further because the patina is absolutely beautiful. I have a pack of documents from the previous owner, who imported it from France in 2016, including the successful NOVA application and DVLA vehicle registration. It has a full V5 in my name.

I have a wine box "top box" which straps on the back - this is included in the sale if you want it.

I am selling reluctantly because I need the space. But if your thing is gliding serenely through the countryside in a cloud of blue two stroke smoke (and it is very much my thing), then please consider this lovely and historic machine.
