VW T3 Vanagon Syncro 2. 1 WBX – Rust-free California example. Honest. First paint. Stylish.
A Syncro you rarely find in Europe anymore: recommissioned by a friend of mine, a Lufthansa aircraft engineer in San Francisco, after this syncro was sitting for some time, then imported to the EU by us this summer.
Dry underside, untouched factory metal, no hidden structural surprises, no bondo, all original paint!
Technically refreshed in Spring 2025 for the new season — ideal as a stylish daily or for fun on the trails. And if you ever want to give it a fresh paintjob later, this is the perfect base: no rust issues to hide or fear.
Major mechanical work in 2025
– Healthy used original VW 2. 1 WBX engine fitted, full service done (oil, filters, valve adjustment)
– Front & rear gearbox with fresh oil, diff-lock operates smoothly
– Viscous coupling replaced with a tested unit
– New radiator, stainless steel coolant pipes, system flushed
– Fuel system renewed: new Bosch pump, tank cleaned/ sealed, new sender & new lines
– H4 headlights & new starter battery
– New windscreen & seal, rear sliding windows retrofitted both sides
– Interior nicely refreshed, many parts replaced with better original items
– Chrome bumpers, 16” Mercedes alloys with brand-new tyres
Options:
Power steering, diff-lock, rev counter, electric mirrors, sliding/ tilt windows, rock’n’roll bed, captain seats, etc.
Condition:
Engine, drivetrain and suspension operate cleanly; the van drives tight and direct.
Original paint with genuine patina and a few dents/ scratches mainly on C- and D-pillars — left untouched on purpose to show its honesty and preserve originality.
All over original paint, unwelded!
Documentation:
German TÜV / EU regulations and roadworthiness just passed — ready to register. Within EU no Taxes or Duties left. (UK 5% - classic car import tax/ no duty fees)
Plenty of invoices from California and the recent recommissioning included.
