Mazda MX5 NA / Mk1 1. 8i 1995
UK car, MOT until August 2026
I have owned and loved this car for 3 years, but given it is not ULEZ exempt I’m just not using it enough…
Later model MX5 with 130hp and manual transmission
The old school model with manual windows and no power steering - much less to go wrong!
Sale includes hardtop (worth ~£400-500 alone)
And rare private plate ‘M18 MXV’
And Haynes manual (if you want it!)
Mechanical:
Part service history and ~104k miles
The car had a full mechanical overhaul by an MX5 specialist when I bought it
(Including shocks and springs, callipers pads and discs, new timing belt, full service). Just had timing belt and water pump replaced!
Running well, and great fun to drive (according to the MX5 specialist!)
Serviced every year.
(The only modification to the engine bay is an MX5 V Special yellow strut brace, quite hard to come by, and might not make much difference to performance but looks good)
Bodywork:
The following year it has a full bodywork restoration - two new front wings, both front and rear sills done, and both sides painted to match (have a few photos)
The car has been looked over by the MX5 specialist every year - last year had a coat of with zinc epoxy underneath to stop the rust!
It has been garaged throughout my ownership and rarely driven in the wet
There are a few age related marks on the paintwork, particularly on the hardtop (some of it 30 years old after all)
Restored 1990s original Enkei wheels. Tyres are Michelin R14s with plenty of tread left.
Roof and interior:
Mohair roof, in good condition with no stains or rips, and a glass rear window
* Sale includes hardtop*, and original vinyl tonneau cover
Interior is in good condition, and I have done a few repairs to the vinyl.
Cloth seats in good condition, however there is predictable slight wearing to drivers side bolster
The only modification I’ve made to the interior is adding a modern stereo unit and better door speakers
Boot floor clean, covered spare wheel present. Fantastic simple usable and fun modern classic! Easy to work on, easy to love, and easy on the wallet too. Keen to see it go to the right home, so happy to take offers.
