Description
Galletto 192 electric start, from 1964 (last year of production) completely restored with all original parts, sold with two other non-running specimens for spare parts.
It is a very comfortable motorcycle and ahead of its time (it’s a high-wheel scooter; the Scarabeo by Aprilia was inspired by the Galletto), but with very tranquil performance. Given the displacement, it can be ridden on any road, even motorways, although the ideal routes are on “slow” and scenic roads.
It is also very simple and reliable.
Equipped with a chromed luggage rack, a tailored protective cover, and the original wheel lock. Original maintenance manuals are also available. All of these accessories (cover, rack, manuals, etc.) are included.
Always registered, with the original logbook and first licence plate, and matching frame and engine numbers. The documents are in order.
Inscribed in the FMI Historic Registry, with the Gold Plate awarded. The logbook bears the vehicle classification label for historic-interest vehicles, authorising free circulation even in areas and dates with restricted traffic.
It has always been kept in a garage.
I am selling it because for family reasons I can no longer use it and follow it with the constancy that such an exemplar requires.
Two other exemplars (dismantled, non-running) are included in the price, together with some spare parts (wheels, seals, decals…) to have a complete spare-parts collection. It is still possible from these parts to assemble another complete and running exemplar, to be registered. This Galletto was bought by an elderly gentleman in 1981 and has been in my possession for about 45 years (previously only 2 other owners).
I used it for city strolls and trips outside town for several years. Due to greater commitments, it has been used very little in the last 10 years, but kept in working order (starts without issues).
It was fully restored by the main Guzzi specialised workshop in Rome about 30 years ago, with all parts (even the smallest) original.
After restoration it covered less than 3, 000 km.
Recently it has been restored again (in the last 10 years work commitments meant it was almost always stationary) with: replacement of air and oil filters, cleaning and replacement of carburettor gaskets, replacement of all three tyres and inner tubes, timing adjustments, restoration of chromed parts, battery replacement.
In all cases I used workshops specialised in vintage vehicles and used original or, where relevant (see tyres), suitable components for the vehicle type (I have the relevant documentation).
The vehicle is equipped with a chromed luggage rack, original front wheel lock, and a tailored protective cover.
Also available are the Maintenance Booklet and the original Spare Parts Catalogue.
Along with the Galletto described here, the offer includes two additional non-running 192 a. e. Galletti, purchased to provide original spare parts.
One of the vehicles is complete in all parts, while another had some body panels that were unrecoverable. The two vehicles have been completely dismantled and the body panels stripped, repaired and re-welded, treated with anti-rust primer and undercoat, ready for final painting.
In addition to those parts, I include another 4 spare wheels, bringing the total to 10. I also include several decal sets and other new spare parts (grips, etc.).
From the overall parts, at least one more running and complete exemplar can be assembled and registered, while still maintaining a good collection of spare parts.
