The Appeal
The Interceptor was conceived in the 60s to take advantage of Europe’s burgeoning high-speed road network, yet today just 30 remain road registered in France. These stylish cars introduced the ‘fastback’ GT profile and gave buyers some of the largest-capacity engines ever fitted under car bonnets.
This much-loved 1975 car was one of the last to leave the factory before Jensen went bust and is fitted with the later, more luxurious wood-veneer dashboard. It spent its life in Canada until 2019, when it arrived in France with the current keeper. It has received considerable investment since then, including a full respray in a rare light brown and a retrim of the chocolate-brown cabin. It has also been fitted with a black vinyl roof. There is also a very long list of mechanical work, which we’ve detailed below. Work included overhauling the cylinder heads, rebuilding the brakes and steering and new shock absorbers, to name but a few items.
Since completion, the car has been used regularly for rallies and is said to have won a trophy. It carries a debumpered look with Tramont alloys and an array of rally-inspired decals. We’re told that the bumpers and original wheels, including tyres, are provided with the car. There is also a useful Controle Technique valid until July 2028.
The Interceptor is well-regarded and has few rivals. With very few available to buy, the arrival of this car is an opportunity for lovers of big 70s GTs.
The vendor says:
“A superb car with plenty of torque—a real treat to drive. Has participated in numerous regularity rallies with trophies to show for it.
“Unknown in France and at all the rallies I attend; the car gets a lot of attention—perhaps only about thirty of them are on the road in France.”
