Description
Reluctant sale of my very original and completely restored MX4 with water-cooled Matchless engine, which has been in my family for 76 years. The car still has its original engine and chassis numbers and is also the same colour as when it left the factory.
The Morgan is in superb condition having undergone a full ‘nut and bolt’ restoration by Bruce Young in 2016 including a full engine rebuild by George Derbyshire – it's been unused since the restoration, carefully stored in the meantime and has recently had a further check over by Bruce Young. Factory records according to “engine type” state that only 16 of these “specials” were manufactured and that spec included staggered gear and handbrake controls, foot accelerator, special silencers, Campbell steering wheel and underslung headlights and exhausts. I have the V5 and the original buff logbook. It is 12v with electric starter, three speed gearbox plus reverse gear. My mother and father had this car when they got married in 1953 and I have pictures of them in it departing on their honeymoon. Therefore I wanted to keep it in the family and bought it from my parents in the mid-80s when they retired. I had it completely restored at considerable expense in 2016, keeping it as original as possible, in time for my sister’s wedding where we surprised my then 92 year old mother with it. She had not seen it for many many years. Sadly it is now time to let it go to another good home. Ideally someone who will cherish it just as much as our family has. Whether this will be a collector or an avid user who will use it as much as possible, who knows - whoever it is, they will have the unique opportunity to buy a car that I believe is as good an example as you will find anywhere. It is very rare to source a Morgan in this condition with matching engine and chassis numbers and with such an ownership provenance
