After 20 years with Subaru, when it comes to buying them we now only buy special collector models like the STI and Spec C, even if it means going to Japan (where we view and test the cars in person) and even if there’s a roughly 6-month wait to have them here in Italy... but for a car like this or an immaculate Spec C it’s worth waiting all that time, and you’ll even comfortably get past the DX driving talk, because these cars are made this way. They’re genuine JDM.
With this one we’ve gone even further, if possible... we’ve outdone ourselves with a SUPER SUBARU: an S204, for those not familiar with this numbered model of only 548 units (though 600 were claimed) of which 311 were in grey and the rest blue and black. In 2026 it will turn 20 years old and in January it will be registered as a historical ASI car with a CRS certificate of historic significance, which will further boost its value, on top of the fact that the super tax won’t be payable (already reduced now) and road tax halved for some regions and even 0 tax for other regions in Italy.

No standard Subaru is more powerful; the only comparable is the Spec C Type RAR, with which it shares many features (the RA-R is the same car but with fewer extras) 0–100km/ h in 4. 3 sec.

- dedicated ECU with original STi S204 map
- Recaro carbon seats with grey Alcantara fabric and black leather
- 3 DEFI STi gauges (turbo boost, oil pressure, oil temperature) with dedicated ECU for spikes, alarms, can log up to 3 minutes
- included triple central gauge pod (these were EXTRA options orderable with a new car at the dealership)
- all-black interior, including the console and carpet.. Alcantara grey door cards and a red eight‑arrow horn button
- dedicated steering wheel and shift knob (S204 knob is the lightest thing Subaru have ever produced)
- carbon front bumper lip and carbon rear spoiler wing finished in the same colour
- widened aluminium suspension arms STi S204 (the caster angle is increased and the track is 10 mm wider)
- specific manuals, S204 dedicated manual pocket in Alcantara including a personalised key ring and a Japanese brochure/ catalog with price list
- original scale model Subaru STi also numbered of 300 grey units (not to be confused with mass‑produced miniatures; this was ONLY SUPPLIED BY SUBARU JAPAN garages and only for S204 owners)
- original STi floor mats for the S204 version
- forged BBS STi wheels of 18 inches
- pink KYB STi special shock absorber setup with Arashi tuning and shortened pink STi springs

I don’t think I’ve missed anything… it basically has the entire catalogue of Japanese STi accessories fitted as standard.
Another unique touch are the original Japanese SUE plates (not replicas) that we managed to obtain with the car (not cheap) and not released to just anyone… since these carry the S204 number I couldn’t miss them, and they are even backlit as they’re used in Japan now
(when we plate her we can also have the 204 on Italian plates)
