Description
1953 morris minor, 4000 miles, 2nd owner, 800cc engine.
It has had a full restoration inside, out and underneath.
The story...
The first owner bought it new using it only for a small period of time before he was unable to drive it and locked it up in his garage. After his passing his son was hoping to restore it but after sitting outside for 4 years he decided to sell it, and that was when it accumulated most of its rust.
October of 2024 I had the goal to give it a nut and bolt full restoration and managed to get it running after it had been sitting around for around 60-70 years.
In its current state is that it has minimal to no rust at all over the car, it runs and drives and can be taken for a teat drive if desired.
Mechanical situation.
Mechanically it's sound, started very easily on the first try and still runs happily now. The engine is the original 800cc and the only new parts are as follows:
. spark regulator+leads
. coil
. chrome pan air filter
. fuel pump
. starter switch
. water pump
. spark plugs
. all new gaskets
The gear box works perfectly, no crunching, no slipping and happily goes in each gear.
Aesthetics:
The outside of the car has a brand new coat base coat and lacquer so the paint will have a longer life span than the traditional 2K paint.
Underneath was all rust treated and stone chipped as well as the suspension and rear axle were completely rebuilt and sprayed black for aesthetics.
Inside has been re-sprayed from the dash to the floor to the pillars, new carpet has been laid to complement the original seats.
Issues:
Every car has their problems and this car is no exception. Besides the usual maintenance of a classic car there isn't a lot els to do to it. I have only been able to drive it for roughly 200+ miles (at the time of writing this description) and have had a few issues pop up but nothing i haven't been able to fix. Things that will need sorting are as follows:
. Rusty fuel tank
. no inside roof lining
. fuel gauge doesn't work (but has a new fuel float)
. cabin radiator leaks
. needs new dynamo
As the car has only been on the road for a month+ it hasn't been properly tested so be aware that it is still a work in progress but with the correct amount of love it will make a fabulous waggon.
BUYERS BE PLEASE NOTE..
The millage even though it is around 4000 it is unfortunately unverified, so the previous owner could have clocked it but due to the lack of rust and ware it has i have reason to believe its trustworthy
This car is a running project car, it is reliable enough to drive on the road. It still has a few kinks to straighten out, so expect to be doing some work to it when purchasing.
Future work may involve if desired:
. Changing all 4 tube tires to tubeless
. Changing brake setup to discs instead of drums
. Change air intake to original if desired
Happy to send over more details to interested buyers. I've already explained a little about its past and it's solitude in a shed for over 60 years but even though its been sat around for years it just wants to live.
When i started this project i quickly fell in love with it, its beautifully simple but it just works perfectly. I bought it in October 2024 and I had the privilege of using it for my sister's wedding in October 2025. The last few months of construction was a lot of work but it paid off in the end as it looks stunning for the wedding (more photos taken than the bride for sure).
The car is beautiful and has so much personality and brings a smile to my face every time I drive it. It also strikes a conversation with so many people about the Morris they once owned in loved.
It really is a beautiful car and it hurts to sell but life moves on and so i hope it can bring a smile to another family's face.
