Description
Rare Super Rocket (East Coast type) imported from the United States.
Launched in 1957, BSA had created this sport-oriented motorcycle to compete, with a frame and swinging arm far superior to Triumphs of the era.
High-compression pistons with an alloy cylinder head (painted on the bike), big valves, strengthened crankshaft, sporty camshaft 357 to develop 43 bhp.
A shorter first gear ratio improved acceleration and it was timed at 187 km/ h by Cycle World magazine, putting it in direct competition with the Triumph T110 and Bonneville.
The small tank (11. 4 l), chromed wrap-around mudguards, the Laconia Bend-type handlebars, and the period-correct seat option make it an elegant machine.
We serviced the concentric 939 carburettor: cleaning and replacement of the inlet gasket, checked fluids and drive units, retightened the head, and valve clearances.
Following the road test, the machine runs perfectly with behaviour worthy of its sporting reputation and a comfortable riding position.
