Description
I've recently reduced the price as I'm guessing it is a quiet time of the year. I'll remove from the market shortly if that's not attractive for someone - you're missing out!

You probably already know the W126/ C126 SEC if you are reading this ad.
This is a fantastic example of a 1990 500SEC.
I went looking for a 560SEC in 2018, but the SEC specialists Lawton Prestige (now closed) also had this in stock and it drove much better than the available 560s, so I went for this.
It drives... SO well. It's just tight. They don't make them like this anymore. There is something about it. It drives better than my modern cars, puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, and without fail someone comments on it every time I drive it. I recommend this feature in whatever car you buy as it will make your day.
The photos will show you what you need, and if you need more of course let me know. I will add some more when valeted.
It has been garaged since my ownership.
Recently MOT'd - Sept '25.
A good amount of work was done prior to my ownership in terms of restoration which many 30+ year old cars will need - receipts for £7k+ restoration work, dealing with any rust that occurred at the time - so the backend is very clean, rubbers replaced etc.
All the electrics work - including rear windows, seatbelt butlers.
Optional extras to note
- 241 – Front seat left electrically adjustable with memory
- 242 – Front seat right electrically adjustable with memory
- 256 – Rear axle with limited slip differential
- 412 – Electric tilt/ slide sunroof
- 440 – Cruise control
- 580 – Air conditioning
- 603 – Headlamp wash/ wipe
- 640 – 15-hole alloy wheels
- 812 – Rear mounted speakers
- 873 – Heated seats
- does not have traction control (a good thing - early traction control was problematic and is usually disconnected for safety)
2 issues I am getting resolved before sale but want to share for anyone interested before they view:
- light rust in one wheelarch (affects all old Mercs from time to time) - photo included
- driver's heated seat light staying on
Other than that it's a fantastic vehicle I'll be sad to see go after 7 years of ownership and about 11000 miles in that time - regular use and some memorable road trips. A change of circumstances mean I sadly have to part with it.
It is a continent consuming machine that will easily give another 100k of driving pleasure to someone who want to use it, and I absolutely recommend that driving it is the way to go. There is a large folder of history and restoration that comes with the car and I can share with any interested viewer.
