A top notch, very original Corvette. Comparatively rare, and for many the perfect combination of the chrome bumpered 68 - 72’ s with the sleeker ‘less heavy chin’ modern nosecone. Plus in 1973 significant improvements were made to reduce cabin noise, with extra sound-dampening insulation, thicker carpets, and a rubber/ steel body mount design.
Subject to some significant expenditure over the last few years including full carpet and seat re-trimming and a superb repaint by Mechspray.
Matching numbers, the chassis is as good as I’ve come across. We’ve owned C1’s, C2’s and C3’s and the chassis and all important bird cage is really excellent . The repaint was done to a very high standard and the finish is excellent, save for a few very small patches of microblistering.
Unusually for American imports the history file is comprehensive and dates back to 1988 when the car was imported.
The engine, automatic box and drive train are excellent with factory oil pressure and water temperature. The engine in particular is sewing machine smooth, benefitting from a new Edelbrock 4 barrel 600fm fitted around 1500 miles ago.
The car has clearly been loved over the years and is in all round great condition. The only known faults are faulty clock ( almost a predictable fault in these cars !) and screen washer motor currently not working ( though I’m working on this )
The bright work is good with just a little blister or two on the offside bumper. The Rally wheels are excellent and shod with Cooper Cobra’s with barely any tread ware at all. The exhaust system was changed a few years ago to include cherry bombs. It makes an epic rumble though if I wax keeping the car I might opt for something a touch quieter. It’s very much a personal taste matter and if it’s muscle car growling you want, it won’t disappoint . It came optioned with tilt steering and electric windows.
The stereo was upgraded to a Sony with large speakers, with an after market electric aerial fitted.
Paperwork includes V5, past MOTs, invoices , HPI report confirming mileage at 102, 000.
Priced to sell at £23250Chassis and birdcage are the absolutes with C3’s and on this car they are superb. The car is comparatively rare being a 1973, half chrome bumpered which for me offers the perfect blend of the Kamm tail Dino style rear window with the sleek shark nose of later models.
