Introduction
I am proud to offer for sale my very special low mileage & long term ownership Mini Cooper S Works facelift model with the official 210bhp John Cooper Works tuning kit fitted, alongside an unrepeatable list of rare and expensive genuine JCW optional equipment.
If you have always wanted the performance of a Mini GP but need the practicality of 4 seats then this Mini JCW with its very rare OEM specification is the closest you can get. This is a once in a 15 year opportunity to buy this car!
Background
I grew up with classic Minis and I am a bona fide Mini enthusiast both new and old. I purchased my Mini JCW as an Approved Used Mini from Sytner MINI in [June 2010] following a long and patient search for a high specification JCW and secured this example within 1 hour of it being advertised - much to the dismay of a number of other prospective buyers that called the Salesman shortly afterwards…
Key things to note about –
Facelift Model – There were a significant number of revisions to the 2005 Model Year facelift R53 Mini that addressed the design and manufacturing niggles that the original cars suffered from (e. g. Airbag warning lights due to cable design flaw under the seat mechanism) as well as some visual updates and improvements (e. g. Modern Xenon headlight design) and most excitingly mechanically the cars were fitted with a closer ratio gearbox with LSD to improve acceleration and handling as well as a Teflon coated Supercharger to eradicate the known pre-facelift failures. This November 2004 car was one of the first facelifted ‘2005MY’ Minis on the road and was a non-negotiable aspect of my Mini search.
John Cooper Works Tuning Kit –
By virtue of being a facelift Mini Cooper S, this vehicle is fitted with the 210bhp tuning kit rather than the 200bhp pre-facelift tuning kit. The additional 10bhp was derived from the active air box intake which opens up a special flap at higher revs to further improve airflow. This also has a secondary benefit of filling the interior cabin with the whine of the Supercharger – such a special and addictive noise!
This builds upon the already comprehensively engineered 200bhp JCW tuning kit which includes reworked JCW Cylinder Head, Reduced Supercharger Pulley, JCW Exhaust System, Larger Fuel Injectors and ECU remap to calibrate all the changes. This tuning package was fully warranted by BMW/ MINI, unlike similar packages offered by independent tuning companies or the more commonplace jumbled collection of aftermarket parts.

Reason for sale
As you will have picked up on by now, this Mini JCW has been highly cherished over my 15 year ownership. It initially served as my sole car then over the years I have added to my list of vehicles, but never being able to bring myself to sell due to the huge amount of driving pleasure it still gives me to this day. However, I now have two young children for which I have conceded the need for a 4 door car to ferry them around in all year round, whereas I have always tried to avoid taking the Mini JCW out on salted roads. My Mini JCW is a 100% genuine example that has never been damaged and has been intentionally kept OEM rather than fitting any other after market/ non-genuine accessories. The car is in excellent overall condition and comes with all manuals/ booklets and 15 years of service history paperwork.
With the Supercharged JCW being a 20+ year old Modern Classic now, the next owner has the choice of spending a little bit of time and money get it to concours condition or perhaps use it as a weekend fun car or special treat Friday commute car – guaranteeing an ear to ear grin upon arrival at work!
In additional to the Full Service History, the next owner will also benefit from some otherwise very costly Warranty items that have been completed by MINI Main Dealers –
Clutch - A new OEM clutch and flywheel were fitted at ~30, 000miles
Rear Tailgate - The inevitable rear tailgate rust that all 2002-07 Mini Hatches suffer from has been not just been repaired, but a whole new rear tailgate was supplied, sprayed and fitted by MINI during my ownership with associated paperwork.
Heated Windscreen – A replacement OEM heated windscreen was fitted under warranty during my ownership due to some heating filaments having ceased to work.
Exhaust – Part of the exhaust system was replaced under warranty.
