Description
The car works fine, BUT NEEDS ATTENTION.
MOT expiry 19/ 12/ 2025. Taxed until June 2026.
It's too much required to be worthwhile for me (Ford labour costs = £££). However, if you are able to do the work yourself or get it done without cost this is still quite a desirable car.
The car has had a recent essential service by Ford and a diagnostic for water in the boot, which (I have assumed) was affecting the boot latch sensor and continually causes the battery to drain. Below is the list given to me by Ford following the service. Not all are essential for road worthiness obviously, but I include for full transparency. They couldn't even tell me if it would definitely fail the MOT, but it's time for me to say goodbye regardless...
DIAG - Boot water leak (around vents also seals in seam deterioration)
NSF - Other/ Budget 3. 0 / 3. 5 / 4. 0
OSF - Other/ Budget 4. 5 / 5. 0 / 5. 5
FPAD - 60% worn
BRD - 21mm
EXH - Blowing from exhaust (more investigation required)
STE - Both lower arm bushes split
ELW - Advise front wiper smearing screen
AIR - a/ c regas recommended (hissing when operated)
A few additional things that I know will also need attention...
Small crack to drivers side indicator case (Mirror and indicator both work fine).
Central screen intermitently does not come on or goes out. A prod or tap will power it again, so am assuming just a minor loose connection.
Heater does not produce hot air until the aircon is used for a short time to warm up, then there is a clunk and it works fine after that.
Drivers seat shoulder latch does not work, so you cannot tilt that seat forward.
A bit of scuffing down one side of the car. Noticeable when clean, but I don't think very major to rectify.
Front Ford badge has seen better days.
The inside is clean and tidy, small amount of damp staining on the sunvisors due to the boot water leak causing condensation/ damp. Back seats are still very nice. The car has had two brand new official Ford front wheels (205/ 40/ 17) this year due to a cracked alloy. All 4 wheels on the car are very tidy, and you can even have to two removed wheels for possible refurb or spares. The car has been owned for 10+ years, still under 100k miles and has a reasonably full service history, with maybe a few years years missing here and there where I either forgot the service book or where Ford messed me around so much the previous year I refused to let them service again the next year.
The above is absolutely everything I know of which needs attention.
Happy to share copies of the recent Ford paperwork again for full transparency, or additional photos.
Please note the MOT expiry is 18/ 12, 2025, so a proper test drive will not be possible afterwards. And obviously any collection will need to be towed or trailered. I've based the price on similar I've seen listed. Whilst I think certain elements of the car lift the price up, I do appreciate the work and time required also pull it down somewhat, so the price is negotiable to an extent.
