This is a genuine 1953 Volkswagen Beetle Oval Window, manufactured in Germany on 12th October 1953 and delivered new to Portugal on 17th October 1953.
The car is in very good mechanical condition and presents very well overall. It is not a concours or fully original example, but a solid and honest early Oval that can be enjoyed immediately.
An original VW ragtop has been fitted from a 1955 model. While not year-correct, it is a desirable and period-appropriate feature that works properly. The paintwork is non-original but in very nice condition. The interior is trimmed in period-correct fabric; although not original, it is in excellent condition and faithful to the era.
The car starts easily, runs smoothly and drives very well. The body, chassis and floors are solid and straight, with good panel fit and no structural issues. Regular maintenance has been carried out to ensure reliability.
No immediate work is required to enjoy the car as it stands. A future owner may choose to improve originality or pursue a higher-level restoration, but this is not necessary to use and enjoy the car today. This Beetle was chosen for its early production year, solid condition and authentic character. Early Oval Window Beetles from the early 1950s are becoming increasingly rare, and this example offers an excellent balance between usability, character and long-term value.
