Description
The Mercedes-Benz SLS was AMG's first ground-up performance
car. It was not a modified Mercedes, but a clean-sheet creation
engineered to show what AMG could do when it wasn't adapting,
but instead designing. Conceived as a modern tribute to the 300 SL "Gullwing", AMG kept the iconic long-bonnet proportions and the dramatic doors, paired with the brand's last naturally aspirated V8.
The Black Series takes that foundation and turns it into a full-
blown spectacle. Lighter, louder, sharper and far more unhinged
than the standard SLS, it borrows heavily from AMG's GT3 racer.
The throttle response borders on absurd, 468lb ft and 622bhp
deployed instantly. It feels alive, urgent, and gleefully excessive.
Rare, collectable and overflowing with character, the SLS Black
Series stands as the perfect blend of classic engineering values
and modern capability. A brutal, beautiful reminder of what AMG
could build when it truly let itself off the leash.
This SLS Black Series, chassis 11157, was delivered new to
the United Kingdom and first registered on 29th April 2014.
Its specification is particularly rare, as of the fifteen SLS
Black Series supplied to the UK, records show that just
three were finished in the dramatic metallic Solarbeam
Yellow, a colour that suits the car exceptionally well.
After only a few months of initial ownership, 11157 was
acquired in September 2014 by a young but significant
collector, joining an impressive stable of forward
looking cars, including a Pagani Zonda. Although it was
occasionally seen drawing a crowd in and around Mount
Street on a weekend, his use of the SLS was sparing and
considered, and its maintenance diligent.
In 2022, 11157 passed to its current owner, who began using
the car for frequent work related trips between the UK and
Europe, steadily increasing the mileage. However, thanks
to his profession in the aviation industry, his mechanical
understanding and sympathy have ensured that the car's
condition far exceeds what its mileage might suggest.
Cosmetic care was entrusted to Topaz, ensuring that
long continental tours did nothing to diminish its
pristine appearance. Both usability and performance
were priorities, leading to several well chosen upgrades,
including the installation of KW's HLS suspension lift
system, a RENNtech ECU upgrade paired with steel long-
tube exhaust headers, and Apple CarPlay twinned with
an upgraded sound system. Please enquire for more information.
