Where to start? The W202 was the successor to the 190E and had a very tough act to follow. The result was a car than was a little roomier, more modern, safer. People go on and on about the w214 being the last great Mercedes, well a w202 is also a 'real' high quality old world Mercedes designed in the 80s pre GM takeover to replace the 190!
So to explain, it is an 'old world' Mercedes in terms of using the traditional set up of a steering box which gives silky smooth refined steering and they also have separate springs and a separate shock absorber set up with the patented multi link rear suspension. After the w202 the w203 was the usual McPherson strut/ spring set up and a jiggly ride.
The w202- especially the 'Sport' is an amazing and very satisfying car to drive and newer Mercedes do not even come close. These cars can eat miles and are capable of being able to go anywhere and they love long trips. The M111 E20 engine is said to be 1 of 5 of the very best engines ever made by Mercedes Benz. Looked after they can do very high mileages of 500K !

I daily a c200 Sport saloon which is very sentimental to me and I cannot keep them both. They are amazing cars to drive and are very reliable.
