DESCRIPTION
Registered on 28th May 1991, this Sierra RS Cosworth covered the majority of its mileage during its early years before passing to Mr Robins in 1999. He retained the car for just under a decade, parting with it in 2009 when ownership transferred to Mr Satt, who has carefully preserved the vehicle ever since.
EXTERNAL
Finished in period correct and highly desirable FORD B3 Diamond White Paintwork, this 1991 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 presents exactly as Ford intended: understated, purposeful, and unmistakably Cosworth
The front end is defined by the Sapphire’s clean, aerodynamic nose, with the colour-coded RS bumper sitting straight and scuff free along with incorporating the original chip and crack free factory integrated front fog lamps. Original flush-fit rectangular headlights and clear indicators give a sharp, modern appearance, complemented by the RS grille carrying the blue Ford oval
The bonnet features the distinctive Sapphire RS Cosworth profile, subtly sculpted to hint at the performance beneath while retaining the discreet sleeper character that separates the Sapphire from earlier Cosworth models.
The four-door Sapphire bodyshell delivers restrained aggression, with smooth, uncluttered flanks finished in deep, glossy Diamond White. Factory-correct colour-coded mirrors and bumper trims maintain a cohesive look, and the Cosworth-specific stance gives the car a purposeful, planted presence without unnecessary embellishment. The overall profile remains clean, balanced, and true to the original RS Cosworth design brief.
At the rear, the Sapphire RS Cosworth subtlety continues, with the colour-coded rear bumper integrating seamlessly into the bodywork. A discreet boot-lid spoiler adds just the right level of motorsport influence without overpowering the saloon shape, while original RS badging and Cosworth detailing confirm the car’s pedigree. Original smoked rear light clusters and the correct factory exhaust exit complete a rear view that is both elegant and quietly menacing, resulting in a front-to-rear presentation that perfectly captures the functional, rally-bred design ethos of the Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4
INTERNAL
The interior of this 1991 Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 is a welcoming and impressively original environment that reflects careful ownership and sympathetic use. The cabin is fitted with its original black leather Recaro seats front and rear, a key Cosworth hallmark and increasingly difficult feature to find in such honest condition. The front Recaros show only minimal wear, with no rips or tears, and remain more than acceptable by any standard. Crucially, they still retain their tight, supportive bolsters, offering the correct Cosworth driving position and that unmistakable “hugged into the seat” feel that defines these cars. The rear seats are equally well presented, remaining in very good condition with clean leather and excellent overall structure, reinforcing the car’s unmolested and well-cared-for nature.
The interior carpet is in overall good condition, presenting cleanly throughout and contributing to a cabin that feels well looked after rather than restored or over-refreshed. Front and rear door cards are also in good order, retaining their original appearance. All original interior switches are present and operate as they should, with some showing light, honest wear entirely in keeping with the car’s age and serving only to underline its authenticity rather than detract from it.
An aftermarket head unit is currently fitted, offering modern usability, though it can easily be returned to factory specification for those seeking complete originality. Overall, this is a well-presented, highly original interior that feels inviting, correct, and true to the RS Cosworth ethos, an interior you immediately feel comfortable in, yet one that still delivers the special sense of occasion expected from a genuine Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Power comes from the legendary 2. 0-litre DOHC Cosworth “red top” 16-valve turbocharged engine, an icon of Ford performance engineering that defined an era.
Delivering approximately 220bhp, it provides strong, urgent acceleration that still feels genuinely fast even by modern standards, recalling just how formidable these cars were in period
HISTORY FILE
A true survivor from the Fast Ford era
Running up most of the miles in its first ten years it has since led a very very sheltered lifestyle being tucked away and preserved as one would expect... since its last owner took over the reigns in 2009 this example has covered barely 500 miles in seventeen years.. WOW
Now sitting at just over 83000 miles runs very well and drives simply as a cosworth should, With virtual(apart from swirl pot) originality being maintained under the bonnet.. something which always tells you a story
Its more than useable as is or if you wish take it to the next level,
