Description
Triumph Model 21 3TA
This very pretty machine was first registered in January 1965
and since then has had seven owners according to the logbook.
This is a matching numbers machine and is finished in Silver Beige,
a colour I understand that was only available in the years 1964-5.
The Bike has been extensively restored and looking through the sheaf of bills totaling over £2400, that seems to have taken place between 1999-2000.
The invoices are mostly from Tri-Supply, Bournemouth and Richard Hacker in Penge, London. These suppliers were very knowledgeable and had huge stocks of original parts, which is reassuring. Also, in my ownership it has had a careful full service including all fluids, new fork seals and a pair of new tyres, which are as period as possible, bearing in mind the rim sizes and the demise of Avon tyres.
Other paperwork includes reprints from old magazines, evidence of a spell in Nigeria back in the mid nineties, MOT's going back to 2001, a set of old tax discs, an original owners manual and a re-printed workshop manual.
As can be seen in the photos, the bike is still in very fine order and is the perfect machine for a leisurely ride out with the VMCC, or perhaps a local commute, made comfortable and safe due to the good riding position, proper indicators, a Craven rack and excellent brakes. (Twin leading shoe conversion). An easy starter also, helped by Boyer electronic ignition.
There's lots to look forward to this Spring, riding this excellent light and nimble bike.
