The Ducati MH900e (also called Evoluzione) is a retro sport motorcycle that Ducati produced in 2001 and 2002 in a limited edition of 2000 units. It was designed by Pierre Terblanche as an homage to Mike Hailwood's 1978 racing motorcycle.
Ducati decided to sell the new motorcycle exclusively via the internet directly to customers.
The Ducati website started taking orders from 1 January 2000 at 00:01 GMT. The first 1, 000 units were sold out within 31 minutes. The remaining motorcycles were sold in the following weeks. Buyers came from 20 different countries. The estimated split of sales was 30% Europe, 30% USA and 39% Japan.
