Description

It concerns the “Alfa 33 Quadrifoglio Verde” from the very first 905 series, with the beautiful and complex “Ermanno Cressoni” dash, already replaced in the more widespread and economical version the following year.
This model is rare in itself, but the uniqueness of this 40-year-old specimen lies in the truly negligible mileage, which makes it look like it has just rolled off the factory floor and offers the pleasure of getting into a car that feels “new.”
The first and only owner had bought the car new at the CAR dealership in Via Pietramellara in Bologna, registering it with the plate BO….. in July 1985.
It has been part of his collection of sports cars bought new, kept almost like scale models, moved around in a private area periodically for optimal mechanical preservation, driving them strictly by himself. Deregistered for fictitious export in 12/ 2006, re-registered by the same sole owner in 10/ 2022.
Without the slightest scratch or dent, obviously still in the original paint.
This “Alfa 33” first-series 905 from 1985 is a true Alfa Romeo, in a sense very meaningful for an enthusiast to have been produced and branded with the chassis and logbook by the independent manufacturer Alfa Romeo, before the 1986 takeover by Fiat. From 1986 it will be renamed simply “33” and produced under the brand “Alfa Lancia Industriale.”
Exterior:
Red Alfa A. R. 530 as befits a Quadrifoglio Verde
Dedicated grille design for this specific version. Bumpers painted to match, front spoiler and black side strips, iodised headlights, splendid bronzed Speedline 14” cast wheels, and its original 1985-dated P6 “super low-profile” tyres!
Front fog lights still protected by their black plastic marked Alfa, bronze-tinted glass and spray wipers on the prow as an option. Black finish on the central pillar and door frames. Tinted glass, heated rear window wiper.
Interior:
Black cloth upholstery with white piping. Sports seats with mesh headrests, leather steering wheel and gear knob, additional instruments in the console for oil pressure and voltmeter. Split-fold rear seat. The splendid original dashboard tilts as a whole with the steering wheel. Central locking, electric front windows, timed ceiling light.
What is unusual for a single sporty version, the driver’s door panel is different from the passenger and from all the other 33s. In addition to the opening handle, bespoke items were produced with a costly dedicated mold: a slanted map pocket with tray, a pen holder and a circular Alfa-marked drain to read maps, removable from its arrangement to be connected to the cigarette lighter.
Mechanical:
Alfa Romeo 4-cylinder boxer engine, 1, 490 cc, in a front longitudinal offset position, which gives the car a very low centre of gravity, boosted to 95 to 105 HP as only in Quadrifoglio Verde versions. Distinctive for exhaust tone and rapid revving.
This “Alfa 33” 905A2D version produced for a couple of years between 1984 and 1986 is equipped with engine type 30146, 1490cc with electronic ignition, single-ignition per cylinder, 2 twin-barrel carburettors d. 32. Gear ratios with 5th gear power and a top speed of over 185 km/ h, 840 kg dry.
Documentation:
Owner’s Manual with electrical schematic as per Alfa Romeo tradition, with its supplement, the service book, the acceptance certificate, the invoice for mounting the fog light kit.
There are of course the double keys and tools in their case, but also the original brochure from the model’s presentation. The magazine “Profumo di Alfa” published a feature on this specimen in issue 1/ 25.
ASI Historic Relevance Certificate. The subtle pleasure of entering a cabin as if in a 1985 showroom, the perfection of detail as only in a new car can be enjoyed.
The solidity of the controls, the tactile feel of the “virgin” materials, the response of an engine and a gearbox still “bound together.” In short: the uniqueness of a car with truly negligible mileage and kept as it should be.
The unmistakable tone of the boxer in a “strained” version with its popping on release, the driving pleasure and the superb road holding guaranteed by a very light car with a longitudinal engine and a very low centre of gravity.
The thrill of seeing the famous 1985-dated Pirelli P6s on wheels that have never seen a curb. The dealer’s sticker that seems freshly applied to the tail, the commemorative sticker for Alfa Romeo’s 75th anniversary on the rear window of the Alfa that left the factory in 1985.
Curiosity: the Alfa 33 Q. V was the car on which Jacques Villeneuve, the 17-year-old future Formula 1 World Champion, made his race debut.
