For anyone who remembers Alfa Romeos of this era, finding a 33 like this today is becoming increasingly difficult. Finding one that presents this well and retains such an extensive history file, original book pack and period literature is rarer still.
First registered on 31 May 1990, the V5 records the car as an Alfa Romeo 33 Ti 2, 1490cc petrol, and shows six former keepers.
History and provenance
One of the strongest features of this particular 33 is the documentation accompanying it.
There is an impressive collection of old MOT certificates stretching back many years, with only a few missing due to being in storage. This provides an unusually tangible record of the car’s life. These aren’t simply a handful of recent printouts – there is a substantial collection of original certificates from the period.
The car also retains its original Alfa Romeo document wallet, containing the 33 owner’s manual, service literature and Alfa Romeo 33 performance/ accessories booklet.
Also included is further period Alfa Romeo literature, including brochures, colour and trim information and an October 1987 Alfa Romeo performance cars price list.
For a collector, these details make a considerable difference. It is increasingly unusual to find an Alfa 33 accompanied by this amount of its original paperwork and period material.
Condition
As the photographs show, the car presents extremely well.
The white bodywork is particularly striking, with the spoilers, side skirts and period alloy wheels giving the Ti the purposeful appearance that made these cars so distinctive.
The rear still carries its 33 Boxer badging, together with period-style Alfa detailing, and the overall appearance remains pleasingly faithful to the car’s era rather than having been unnecessarily modernised.
Inside is perhaps even more impressive.
The original-style checked cloth upholstery is superbly evocative of an Alfa from this period and appears remarkably fresh. The dashboard, door trims, carpets and centre console all present very well, retaining that unmistakable late-’80s/ early-’90s Alfa character.
It is an interior that immediately transports you back to an era when Alfa Romeo was doing things rather differently from everyone else.
The appeal of the Alfa 33
The 33 has become a genuinely interesting modern classic.
Its combination of compact dimensions, light weight, distinctive Italian styling and flat-four Boxer engine gives it a character quite unlike the mainstream hatchbacks of its period.
For years these cars were simply used, repaired and eventually discarded, which means genuinely presentable examples have become surprisingly scarce. The sporting Ti versions are particularly appealing today.
This example has all the ingredients one would want in a collectible 33: excellent presentation, period specification, a beautifully preserved interior and, importantly, a substantial documentary history.

In summary
This is not simply another old Alfa 33.
It is a very well-preserved and highly evocative example with an unusually comprehensive history file, retaining the books, literature and period details that are so often lost over the decades.
The condition of the interior alone gives an indication of how well this car has survived, while the extensive collection of historic MOTs adds genuine substance to its provenance.
For an Alfa enthusiast, collector of increasingly rare ’80s/’90s cars, or somebody who simply wants something far more interesting than the usual modern classic, G456 TKN deserves serious consideration.
