Description
I have owned the Cosworth since June 2013 and I am the 10th owner.
Showing 160, 000 miles but presents like a car with half the miles.
Since I purchased the car I have upgraded Chassis, Braking and Powertrain elements with the aim to develop a well sorted reliable fast road Cosworth.
Stage 3. 5 running 360bhp peaking 22/ 23 PSI and holding 21 to the limiter. (Live Mapped by Motorsport Developments Blackpool)
Engine build completed in 2017 with the following Spec:
200 Block
Mountune 6 x Long Stud conversion
Mountune WRC Oil Spray Jet conversion.
Pocketed Cosworth Racing Pistons
ACL Bearings
ARP Con Rod Bolts with con rods shot peened.
Burton Power oil pump.
Standard sump but with G19 Engineering Gated baffle.
Anembo Engineering billet alternator drop bracket and billet power steering pump bracket.
This bottom end engine build is good for 500hp with no issues.
Original 2WD reconditioned Cylinder head comprising of
16 x new valves and valve guides.
New Camshaft bearings and seals
Mild Porting head casting clean up work. (Roger Fabry - Sabre Heads)
Newman Cams AB07 inlet cam and standard exhaust cam.
Quaife adjustable Cam Pulleys
Airtec / Hart style inlet manifold with Anembo Engineering billet fuel rail.
New Engine, Fan and fuel pump looms (Autodynamix)
Turbo Technics stage 3 turbo T35. 55
(Stu at MSD commented that this engine breathes well and makes great power for this turbo and boost level).
you could up boost to 2bar 28psi and it should achieve around 400hp but would be running the turbo flat out.
Airtec 70mm Intercooler
Airtec stage 1 turbo cooler
Large Aluminium radiator with slimline fans.
Pro Alloy Header Tank with the level sensor.
This cooling setup means the fans only ever come on during hot days when you have been crawling in traffic for long periods of time. The upgraded fans are also much quieter than the original ford setup and flow more air so are very effective.
Mapped On L8 ECU with MSD Closed Loop control and using Blitz boost controller. Using the Electronic boost control is far more precise than the original ford Amal valve setup.
Group A coil and Denso IK27 plugs.
Wheels are a rare set of Compomotive CXN Split Rims with staggered sizing for perfect fitment.
New Toyo's all round last year with less than 500 miles on them.
GAZ gold coilovers.
MK Motorsport Group A rear beam rose jointed and purpose built to house the Supra Diff.
Toyota Supra LSD with MT Motorsport billet rear cover. 3. 7-1 ratio. (I tried the 3. 9 ratio but found it to short for me).
Billet rear hubs.
Propshaft refurbed and balanced with modified Toyota flange to marry up with the Supra Diff.
AP racing 6 Paddle clutch with standard cover so not to heavy.
Bosch 044 Fuel Pump
Refurbed Fuel Pump cradle with Polybush Mounting kit.
With custom made fuel lines.
Brake improvements
Rear brake conversion to Escort Cosworth spec Vented disc setup. (good upgrade on the 2wd Solid discs)
Standard front 4 pot brake setup with DS2500 pads, vented discs and braided lines.
Chassis improvements include
Polybushes throughout.
Adrenaline Performance rear strut brace. This is the black triangulated brace in the boot space. This bolts through the boot floor and ties in with the Diff hanger assembly. This combined with the two other chassis braces and hugely increases chassis stiffness and made a big difference to the cars overall drive and composure.
With the above setup the car has done roughly 7000 miles since build and has been flawless.
Regular oil changes with Fuchs/ Silkolene competition grade oil.
Loads of history and mountains of receipts.
Some spares will also come with the car.
For example original boot carpet and centre dash vent pod if you prefer the more standard look.
It does have odd headlights with one being Cibie Branded and the other Lucas. The sunroof works perfect but the original black rubber seal around the glass is showing its age.
Not much else to tell other than Awesome Car!Why I bought this particular car in 2013: After travelling the country looking at several lower mileage cars I looked at this higher Mileage example and it was better in every department. Interior condition. The original 3dr dashboard still uncracked. The seats taught and not saggy with the Diamond White paint in very good order. It has the original Ford Service booklet with every interval stamped from its earlier life. So I had to have it and over the years I set about mechanical updates to create a reliable fast road RS Cosworth. Awesome Car!
