Description
TVR Chimaera 4. 0 1996 with P. A. S and Aircon 46, 000 miles
D22 WLM will be removed before sale and the car will be on its original plate N94 EKP - It still has the original dealer supplied number plates.
Car will be sold with a full years MOT
In my ownership it has had an oil and filter change every 3000 miles
Where do I start? This thing has had a truckload of money spent on it - as you can see from the receipts and invoices in the pictures including New hood, Clutch, Brake and clutch master cylinders, radiator, brakes, plus various consumables and upgraded bits such as ignition bits n pieces (coil, plugs, leads, Distributer cap, ignition amplifier). There are receipts from all of the well known places as well (TVR101 / Motoclan / X power etc). It has had a new oil pressure gauge and the upgraded Caterham water temp sender, wiper park switch and other stuff I have probably forgotten about
Aircon - I never used it and have removed the compressor and replace the serpentine belt and tensioner with the correct Non A/ C parts. The compressor, belt and tensioner are all included should you wish to re-instate it at some point.
Spares also include a set of Bilstein shocks and standard rear light units to go with the car, various service parts that will get you out of a hole should you need them (plugs, leads, 100amp fuses, spare boot relay)
A copy of the Steve Heath “Bible” also comes with the car.
2 new Toyo Proxes on the back with minimum wear on them after a year or so’s use.
See pictures for details of the specialist inspection I had before buying the vehicle - main points to note are the body off restoration and the remarkable state of the chassis which has been coated with PO15 (?) which means its very well protected and has been commented on at M. O. T time.
From the report I have addressed the cracked dash - now satin black. I have also resolved the testers issue regarding the seats. they have been re-secured to the floor and are genuinely among the most comfortable I have sat in - its subjective I know but they are a seat you seem to sit “in” rather than “on” which is what I find with the original Chimaera seats where I tend to slide about a bit. The seats are from a Mk2 Mitsubishi Starion and I have modified some ford Mustang seat belt holders that keep the belts in place. Floor mats have been replaced
Wheels have been refurbished in Anthracite and are chip and scratch free.
In its latter history the car has had a new hood, chassis off restoration, respray in 2 pack paint - the list is long and again, you can see from the receipts that this has had money spent on it where needed
It also has Audi TT wing mirrors and the all important VW Lupo headlight conversion which, if you pardon the pun, is like night and day compared with the original TVR units. It also has a high level 3rd rear brake light as a safety issue - you are low to the ground and with everyone driving chinese SUV’s these days that are a bit higher up, its better to be safe than sorry.
I truly love the car and have had it for 3 years now (4th owner) and it been a 20 year wait to get it since my S3 in 2001 but I am giving up work, moving house and have scratched my TVR itch so its time for a new chapter in its life.
I bought the car sight unseen from London - it was the right colour with the right mods and following the inspection, it was decided that with a bit of fettling it would be a great car and it is - I think all of the Chimaera niggles have been ironed out and she starts, ticks over, runs and performs as she should and you never tire of the noise from the (standard - non messed with) exhaust. This car is not a garage or show queen - its been used regularly and will only not go out if there is ice or salt on the road. These things like to be driven, not cocooned away for 2 or 3 trips a month when the suns out.
Please please please feel free to call or message me with any queries or any further pictures or videos that you need.
Im looking for offers around £12, 500 - not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive and considering all the hard work has been done, I think it represents a fair price given the current market but again, feel free to disagree and make me an offer - you never know!
If you made to the bottom of the advert then well done - and give me a shout.
