Description
An iconic, aerodynamic shaped car with an air-cooled eight-cylinder
engine, produced in Czechoslovakia from 1957 to 1974. The successor to
the Tatra 77, 87 T600 Tatraplan streamlined cars.
This specific example is from the first year of production, carrying
body number 270. It is the only Tatra 603-1 available from the first
year of production on the classic-cars market featuring number of
specifics that are typical only for these first produced units. The
most remarkable distinction of the very first T603-1 series are 3
front headlights under glass cover, hood's air intake, low windshield
or eye catching metal dashboard with specific 1st-series gauges etc..
Since the T603 had no anticorrosion bodywork treatment, the complete
overhauled cars durint the years got the recent available parts and
panels back in time resulting that almost all T603s on the market
today have the updated look. The 3 front head-light version became a
rarity.
The car has just undergone a complete, throughout ten-year
reconditioning and is in all working condition. The V8 engine has been
overhauled. The car has an EU registration and valid technical
inspection (TUV).
The car has the original documents (technical license) from 1957. It
has a documented complete history, including an extract from the book
of orders and sales of the then national company Tatra Koprivnice.
According to this documentation, the car was ordered and delivered to
the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in
Prague.- The pinnacle of Czechoslovak streamline car design and automotive construction school.
- Air cooled V8
- Respected, compared to the top-tier cars of 50's in Europe.
- The 603-1 with 3 headlight front is rarity.
