Ford's biggest success of the sixties and the originator of the 'Pony car' concept was essentially a sporty compact car but with a now legendary long hood and short deck proportions, built on Falcon and Fairlane chassis and drive-train components, the Ford Mustang was introduced in April 1964 as '65 models and within a year became the fastest selling car of all time; with these early production cars now carrying special favor! The upgraded V8 from the Falcon six cylinder engine was the 260 c. i. V8 produced on the same assembly line with other 1964 Fords, the early models were titled as 1965 models although they were actually from the 1964 production era. After September 1964 the 260 V8 was dropped in favor of the larger 289 V8 like this particular car.

This particular example boasts its original classic and extraordinarily rare 'Emberglo' factory color paint and original 'Parchment with Emberglo' interior and was built on May 10th 1966 with the 3 speed manual transmission and a 2. 80:1 axle.

The 'Emberglo' color paint, sometimes referred to as "Emberglow", was a seriously striking one year only Ford color, exclusive to the 1966 Ford Mustang and Thunderbird models and a Deep Metallic Copper toned Orange color that can seem different shades depending on the light is highly prized amongst collectors today with reportedly only between 5-10% of these year models were ever ordered in the rare color and with very few remaining in existence today!

The car drives very well with no issues. The engine is extremely strong and responsive and the 3 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine temperature always remains cool. There are no signs of any accidents and no rust and the car has been beautifully restored. In summary this is one very striking and rare original southern California 1966 Ford Mustang 289 V8 Convertible and a great daily driver for any American classic car lover. A beautiful example of this increasingly collectible and one of the most desirable classic Mustangs ever in turn-key ready daily driving, daily head-turning, and daily appreciating condition!
